Issues associated with ageing to include the impact of ageing on the older

person.
Once with ageing the human body begin a continuous update, bringing
major changes in elderly person, bath physically, mentally, social.
Most of elders seams to dealing with one or more of the following conditions:
-Dementia(including Alzheimer)
-Depression(in various forms: hypertension, vascular disease, congestive
heart failure, high blood pressure)
-Anxiety
-Incontinent(urinary- loss of bladder control and faces)
-Arthritis
-Osteoporosis
-Diabetes
-Frequent falls(which most of the times cause to them fractures)
-Parkinsons disease
-Cancer
-Respiratory problems
-Eyes diseases as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
Due to these diseases, the whole body is changing, old people get to
encounter: trimmer skin, diminished sense of taste or mesll, a slowed
reaction on time or a weakened imun system.

Analyse the role of the healthcare in promoting positive ageing and that of
organisations and services provided for older people eg Age Action Ireland,
Positive Ageing Week.
In my opinion, to be a healthcare assistant is one of the beautiful and
responsible job.
Doesnt matter if you work within hospital, nursing home or community,
the services that you have provide are the same, and even our
ADLs(activities of daily living) duties include :washing and dressing, feeding,
helping them to mobilize, toileting, bed making, monitoring patinets
condition by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight the most
important service that we can provide to them, is assisting patients overall
comfort, to help them to socialize, participate to differents activities, to
encourage them to do things by their own, to give them trust.
Even we have to do ADLs, or we have to respect a care plan(which are
unique and designed for their own specific needs) we all the time have to
respect their right to PRIVACY and DIGNITY.
Describe the cultural influences relating to retirement on the older person.
When we talk about retirement, our thoughts are flying to be a lovely
view: we imagine like a skilled , loveable, funny and patient person, with
glasses, grey and curly hair, which use to spend their retirement doing what
they love to do. Bu not all the time is like that. Few of them, cant wait their
retirement, they feel tired, and when the retirement is coming they arent
happy anymore, because their life become to quiet , they dont have the
same activities , routine disappear and everything looks to be boring.
In this case they tend to feel useless, confused and very quiet. But other
elders seems to enjoy their retirements, spending more time with family,
minding and teaching their grandchildren.
It the retirements they have more leisure time and they can have more
activities, which can be different to each other.
Depends of their income their leisure activities can be varied: travel all
over the country/world, walking in the park with their favorite pet, reading,
watching TV, playing games(poker, bingo), using social networks, gardening,
painting, knitting listening and playing music.
All these cultural activities are constructive for elders retirement keep
their mind, body and soul healthy.

Consider the stereotypes of older people and ways in which they can be
discredited.
Consider the stereotypes of older people and ways in which they can be
discredited.
Each of us, we have a different behavior, what makes us to fit to one or
more stereotypes .To become old, does not mean to change lifestyle, to have
no social life, not be loved or be abandoned by family and friends.
Old age is not a disease, but it brings with it a certain diseases, and this
not to means that olders person is less than human.
The most of the times, I have heard people saying that elders avoid for
various reasons because they are smelly, isolated, annoying, cranky,
vulnerable, but what lack to the elderly is only affection, socialization, self
esteem and close person which can sustain , moral and helping to maintain
young soul.

Summarise the range of care facilities available for older people.

Care facilities available for older people are.
-Doctor, nurses healthcare assistant careers dentists , physiotherapists,
opticians, psychologists, social workers, chiropodists, G.Ps, Hobby therapists,
continence nurse, palliative care staff.
Speech therapists, overseen by community nurse, community care
package, Home adaptation, Home help, Meals on Wheels, practice nurses ,
wardens, Hairdresser, Laundry/Housekeeping.

Describe the holistic needs and the rights of the olders person and how the
healthcare assistant can promote these needs and rights.

To apply a care plane, we have to respect their privacy and dignity. To

respect them, to help them, to have all the time a good level of self esteem and
encouraging them to think positive.

We have to facilitate choices allowing what and when they want to eat
what thei want to wear encourage them, to choose bedtime, nap and bath time,
permit them what kind of entertainment they want and to assist them in formulating
their own care plan.

Identify standards associated with the provision of services for older people
and how they are maintained.
A high standard in providing services of older people is severe affected by
the following aspects; a healthcare assistant is a part of a big team which is
important for patient, therefore each healthcare assistant need to have a
purpose or aim within the work setting to be a well trained staff, to be a
member of a unit team, to be responsible, to have a good communication
with the team and clients, to be a good colleague. All of this contributes to a
general wellbeing, emotional wellbeing a feel good factors, identification of
health, related problems, improvement of a body function, update of
exercise regime fitness and longevity.

Describe typical conditions of old age both physical and psychological.

The most common conditions which affecting older people usually over
65 years old are including: arthritis hearth disease, stroke, cancer, flu and
pneumonia.
They use to have falls or other types of accidents which result hips
fractures.
Elders are coping most of following diseases: hypertension, congestive
heart failure, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, vascular disease,
Dementia, delirium, depression, osteoporosis, Arthritis, Diabetes, Breathing
problems incontinence , Parkinson, cancer, weight loss, sleep and eye
problems, fractures.

Summarise the needs of the dying person and their family and the duty of
care to be provided by the healthcare assistant before, during an after death.
Ass all life an death is different for each person, care plans have to be
made from families and residents, they need space, time and right to decide
about his/her life.
The most important is to give their privacy an dignity in a properly
environment, where all needs are satisfied as: physical, emotional,
psychological, social and spiritual.
Altogether, communication, emotional support, spiritual needs, and
dealing with death including client and family are aspects of a nursing care
and lead us to help family with bereavement.
Its so important to talk with them and in the same tie to allow them
to talk, give them spiritual needs, make refreshments, give them an area to
talk privately and after death to allow time to mourn spend time with
deceased.
There are few rituals which are same very important after death as
well, so our duties including: note time of death, close their eyes, disconnect
anything and put denture in change dressing and clothes, place their hands
properly, close the door and leave it to rest for an hour, call the minister of
religion and allow family to prepare everything and after G.P is pronounced
death to contact the undertaker.
All of these duties should be done, quietly, efficiently and with
maximum of privacy and respect.
