Lesson Activities:
At the beginning of the lesson, the teacher will: (Opening will last for 15 mins)
Announce the classroom behavioral rules in order to inform all of the students their expected
behavior (discipline/positive) during the lesson. Secondly, the teacher will inform the students what
they will be learning in the lesson (reading two different storybooks and learn how to recognize and
use words that ends with ing and ink). Thirdly, teacher will play a phonics song as a starter in order
to engage and rehearse the students towards the topic that they will be introduced to. Fourthly,
teacher will apply the classroom daily routine by reading the first storybook What do you like? and
make the students read along with her. In addition, she will be asking some questions to the students
in order to ensure that they are following the story. Fourthly, she will read the next storybook under
the title Gorillas as well as she will be asking some questions while reading. Finally, teacher will
inform the students that they will get homework to complete for their next lesson.
At the middle of the lesson, the teacher will: (Activities will last for 15 mins)
Start with her first activity in which, she will be placing two types of flashcards on the white
board. To elaborate, the first type of flashcards will contain the following letters/words:,dr, p, k,
sleep, and runn. Whereas, the second type of flashcards will contain the missing ending clusters: ink
and ing that matches the mentioned letters and words. Hence, the students job is to find out which
flashcards match with each other in order to form words that ends with: ing and ink. For example:
the teacher will place a flashcard that contains dr letter, as well as another flashcard that contains
the ending cluster ink. Students are expected to match those two flashcards together in order to
form the word drink. Therefore, if students struggle while matching the flashcards, the teacher
will scaffold them by making a move such as running. As a next step, teacher will ask the students
to give her five sentences that contains words that end with ing or ink in order to write them on the
white board. Once the students are done with finding out the sentences, the teacher will tell them to
write the sentences on their journals book. Thus, higher leveled students will be asked to write all of
the five sentences on their books, whereas, medium leveled students will be asked to write four
sentences, and finally the lower leveled students will write the first two sentences (differentiation).
At the end of the lesson, the teacher will: (Closing will last for 3mins)
Ask the students if they have enjoyed the lesson and what part they enjoyed the most. In
order for the teacher to ensure students understanding on the topic that they learnt, she will ask them
to remind her of some words that ends with ing and ink.
