English Lesson Reflection

March 16th 2017, was my third lesson observation. In which, I taught English lesson
under the topic ing and ink ending words. Throughout the lesson, many positive aspects had
occurred such as: effective teaching and learning, anticipation, enjoyment, participation and
positive behavior.
To elaborate, students received and produced the given topic to them very well. In which,
I applied the Total Physical Response (TPR) teaching strategy as a way to engage students
towards learning and ease their understandings. Movements were applied to the students in order
to allow them identify the ing and ink ending words by themselves. The reason behind applying
such strategy is, to make the students comfortable and encouraged to learn, process and apply the
given information. In addition, all students with different learning abilities were benefited from
such method because, all of the students were responding and involved within the ing and ink
words identification.
Secondly, enjoyment and anticipation were included and found during the lesson. In
which, students were attracted and excited to play the ing and ink words creation that was
formed in a football theme. I know this because, I saw how students are exited with sharing
between each other words that end with ing and ink. Therefore, students were asking me to
replay the game once more for them. Such thing, proves that students have really enjoyed the
game and most importantly they have learnt from it.
Thirdly, all of the students were participating and getting involved within the lesson. In
which, at the beginning of the lesson, students were informed that all of them should be involved
throughout the lesson because they will be playing a football game. In such way, students were
excited to participate within the activities that were held in order for them to play the game. The
reason behind doing such thing is because, there are some students who are shy or they feel
uncomfortable in participations. However, when students are aware that they will be doing or
playing with something they prefer, their shyness or discomfort will disappear.
Finally, all of the students were maintaining their positive behavior during the lesson. In
which, all of them followed the classroom rules as well as, they were interacting and responding
along with their teacher. This is because, their classroom behavior system (teams points) were
applied as well as, they were informed at the beginning of the lesson what are the consequences
of students who will misbehave (they will not be allowed to play the game).
Overall, in my opinion I think that this lesson was the best lesson that was taught. This is
because, actions were made according to the feedback that I use to receive from my MST/MCT.
And most importantly, I have built a positive relationship with the students which made them
trust me and feel comfortable towards me by sharing their doubts or if they need any help
regarding a certain topic.
