Conor Scott- Team observation

During a recent IEP team on 4/26/17 Mrs. Scott displayed the following during a
meeting in which the parents of her student did not attend, but the other service
providers were present:
Mrs. Scott discussed the students current classroom behavior in which the student
demonstrates an unwillingness to complete assignments, or if completing support
has to be given. The student at times can demonstrate an understanding of reading
skills and is currently working on a 4th grade level, a shared through the Iready
report. Mrs. Scott reviewed how the students work completion is impacted when
having an additional adult support, which is hit or miss from day to day. She did
note that the student has an increased difficulty with completing math task, due to
the limited attention during math instruction. Mrs. Scott did share that work
completion has improved with a sticker incentive in which they earn a weekly treat
based on completing 3/5 assignments each day.
Mrs. Scott then reviewed the data that was used to document the need for goals
and supports on the IEP. During this review she discussed the behaviors of the
student, which included refusal to complete spelling or writing task. Also, she
documented when an attempt was made the student often noted that they wanted
to skip and item. Following the review of data she then reviewed how the data
impacted the decision for the goals and supplementary aides. This includes the
additional of a scribe for testing accommodations.
Mrs. Scott was able to talk about the students progress toward his behavioral goals
and discuss how the student interacts with peers along with regulating their own
behaviors. This includes that more recently the student has made improvements
with not being in situations with students and being able to quietly take a break
from the classroom to go to the office to visit with support staff. This was an
improvement from previous behaviors.
