Observations about the Rhetoric of Comic Strips Reading:

The reading provides a lot of information about what comic strips really are and why they

are used to convey a message. Additionally, the article explains how comic strips are set up, the

text that is used in a comic, and the different styles of comic strips. What caught my attention

was that the article mentioned how everything in a comic strip means something. You may thing

that the border of a comic is just there to be there. However, the border influences the overall

meaning of the comic. The border may even have its own meaning. I also realized how many

questions you must consider when creating a comic strip. For example, you must ask yourself

what colors you want the comic to be, if you want it to be realistic or cartoon- looking, and if you

want people to pay attention to certain actions made by a character that you drew in the comic.

Overall, the article has made me understand that creating a comic strip is not easy. There are a lot

of considerations that need to be considered. Furthermore, I observed that a lot of the example

comics within the article have words that are bold in the text boxes. I would infer that these

words are bold so readers pay more attention to the overall meaning of what is going on in the

comic. The words could be used to help increase the readers knowledge of the comic or enhance

the readability of the comic. These are my initial observations after reading the comic strip

article.

Rhetorical Analysis of Professor Carys Tweets:

1. The PS4 Picture Share of The Character Fishing:
a. From the character design and look of the game, I believe that the game is Final

Fantasy XIV. The tweet contains multiple pictures of a character that is fishing.

One of the pictures contains pelican-like animals and another has a rideable bird. I

would infer that Professor Cary was trying to increase his fishing rank in the game

by capturing different types of fish. Additionally, the trophy that reads, Veteran

Fisher, helps me understand that Professor Cary was increasing his fishing rank

and has been fishing in the game for a while. The composition, or pictures in this

case, were most likely posted on twitter to entertain his follows and to show his

skills at fishing in the game.

2. Retweet of a Twin Peaks Poster:
a. The poster contains a faded picture of a man in his late 30s or early 40s. In

addition, the background of the poster contains a lot of trees and a bright sun. I

would infer that the poster is a poster of a new movie or a TV show. The creator

of the image may be trying to gather interest for the new title. The phrase at the

topic of the image makes the reader wonder what is going to happen again. The

words create a sense of suspense and mystery. It makes the reader want to know

more about the movie or TV show. The composition may be trying to get an

audience excited for a new screening of the movie or TV series called Twin

Peaks. The composition is functioning as a form of entertainment and is being

used to get people excited.

3. Tweet to Gordon Ramsay About Pasta:
a. The tweet contains an image of a pasta creation. The pasta is Penna pasta.

Additionally, the pasta contains either sausage or kielbasa. The sauce may be a red

tomato sauce or some type of tomato, alfredo sauce. The pasta looks like it is

sitting on a kitchen counter. The post was created to show off a type of pasta,
most likely for dinner, that was created by Professor Cary. Professor Cary is

asking Gordon Ramsay, a professional cook, for his thoughts on the food. I would

infer that Professor Cary wants to know what Ramsay thinks and if he would eat

it himself. Professor Cary may also be looking for advice on cooking from the

professional chef. The composition is functioning as either a serious post asking

for advice or a post looking for some fun. The image could also be functioning to

make people hungry.
