Please write about something that made you think, taught you something about yourself, or
helped you grow in some way since arriving at Texas A&M. This experience could have
happened in class; in your dorm; at a meeting; on the bus; in other words, anywhere, at any time,
since you arrived on campus.
I currently live 1,364 miles from my family. That is a drive that technically takes only 23
hours, but must be stretched over a minimum of two days. This is the longest that I have ever
been away from home. And I love it. Freedom is exciting. It opens up new opportunities. It
provides for more social interactions. It opens up my mind for one of the best educations in the
world. College makes societal learning possible. I began Business 125 with this exact same
prompt, and two months later, a lot has changed. Before, I spoke about a lesson that I learned
from Fish Camp and the first two weeks of college. This time, I want to be a little more
straightforward. I want to speak about what I have been made to think about college. It took me a
while to figure out what drove my thought process at Texas A&M, but I think I have discovered
the source. Classes and football are some things at A&M that constantly pressure my thoughts.
engineers, I still need to think about Psychology, Economics, Architecture, Business, and Math.
In particular, Psychology is quite curious. Dr. Bodden consistently challenges my former ideas
and he does so with a fantastic teaching method. His kind-hearted manner, mad jokes, and polite
presence all act as catalysts to my curiosity. One day I hope to meet Mr. Bodden in person, and
have a wonderfully individual conversation with the Psychologist. I love how thinking is always
required in Math because I love solving problems. Mr. Klein is incredibly sarcastic and
entertaining, and it makes my day when a student asks an absolutely ridiculous question and he
is forced to answer it. Coming from AP Calculus BC to Math 140 was a huge drop, so this math
class hasnt provoked my though as much as another would. Finally, I would love to talk about

my Econ class. Economics sounds incredibly complicated at first, but in fact, its the most logical
process on the face of the planet. Everything is connected, and a rise in one factor will cause a
decrease in the other. Literally it is the science of relationships. I started the class out by being
incredibly confused, but Dr. Pakhotina has shown me the light. And I am grateful. Next up, the
A&M started the season off with a 6-0 record before losing to number one alabama
(lower case because A&M). Now we are 7-2 and not going to make the playoffs. Football here is
an emotional roller coaster. We started with mostly highs. From unranked to fourth in the nation,
to beating ucla in the season opener. College Gameday visited as we overcame tennessee in
double overtime. The season has given me so much, mostly it has projected an image of Texas
A&M football. Next year will be interesting with the loss of Trevor Knight and Myles Garret
among others. I am constantly thinking about the future, and I cannot wait to see what the team
can do in my coming years. We have a four-star quarterback recruit coming to play next year. As
a freshman, I am slightly worried about his leadership abilities. He has potential, I know that.
Give him time, and our team can be fantastic. A replacement for Myles Garret is a necessity.
Luckily, Traveyeon Williams is a true freshmen and he has plenty of time to shock the world.
am curious. This is my school now, and I am going to play my part as the 12th Man.
Thinking is a natural part of everyday life. College forces thought just as much as any
other situation; the only difference is that it opens up more time for thought. As a result, I have
begun to think deeper into my relationships to this school, mostly through class and football. I
feel that I have grown as an individual with my time here, and I cannot wait to see what else I
