Brief description of the applicant organization/group:


Scenario Aid is a national, Community-led nongovernmental organization, registered in the
Republic of South Sudan on 18, January, 2016 and headquartered in Western Lakes State. It
is run by 15 social workers graduated from different fields of Studies. 3 Mentors and 7
Advisory Board from different profession, our organization was established in 2012 in
Western Lakes State.

Scenario Aid aims at improving the quality of life of individuals, communities and the
society in general. Our objective is to work towards the satisfaction of human minimum
needs such as income generation, food, health, safe water, education and safe environment.
Peace at community level. All of these essential requirements contribute to a good quality of
life that is essential for people to lead a socially and economically productive life. These can
be achieved through community full involvement, local-management and self-reliance,
supported by intersectoral collaboration and partners nationally and internationally.

Scenario Aid Programs are open ended, community based initiatives, they include the
followings:
1. Development actions
2. Women Entrepreneurship
3. Protection of the Environment
4. Youth Information Technology

PROJECT NARRATIVE:

4. Explanation of the project: Briefly describe the wisdom you want to share
Our proposal is to empower women home base workers for income generation and
food security to 80 women and 20 men in rural village of Rumbek households
(approximately 500 household members) in Western Lakes.
We are going to organize a skills development workshop on Women Food Literacy
for Local Employability and Empowerment to women, focus on self-efficiency and
resourcefulness through innovation. The training will draw 80 women and 20 men to
attend the 5-day food cooking skills training. These women should be taught how to
cook chapatti, mandasi, how to make juice, local bread and local pastry.

Why do you feel it is urgent to share this wisdom with others? How can it change the
world into a better place?
These women will become expert in cooking and know the food preferences of their
local communities and to use these skills for income generation
It will create employability, enterprise development and womens economic
empowerment
Women home based workers will sell their home cooked food to customers
It will help them to do away with the dwindling standards of living caused by low
levels of education and lack of employment for women in South Sudan
The end result will be a well-functioning self-sustainable training centre with cooking
materials, Small machines for juice making and program will be able to provide skills
to other women for many years to come.

Over what period of time will the project be implemented?


The duration of the Project Implementation is 3 and half months (100 days) from the
date of approval.

5. Origin and Context:


Describe the region and community where the project will be implemented and the reason
motivating the request for assistance.
The project will be implemented in Western lakes State, Rumbek, the project locality is Deng
Nhial Community Centre, which is 5 kilometre away from town centre.
We are motivated to create Community Food Learning Centre which will train the first 100
people and will continue to train more people in some years to come.

What is the most important value participants will learn during your Day of Learning?
As the first project of its kind in Rumbek, we will provide 80 women and 20 men with
basic knowledge and skills necessary to start their own businesses, in its long run, it will
create a lasting close-knit community of female entrepreneurs among the residents of
Western Lakes State.

1. Mobilizing, organizing and facilitating community, ensuring its empowerment
towards local-management, local-reliance and self-sustainable development
2. Assisting community in assessing their needs and priorities, providing technical and

Work Experiences:
2005- 2012: Programme Manager for Basic Development Needs [BDN] programme with
World Health Organization in Lakes State for 8 years:
undertaking activities of Community Based Initiative [CBI ] Basic Development Needs
[BDN] programme in Rumbek Lakes State, Managing programme activities at state and
local level; including its planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring, assistance in
financial management at local level, record-keeping, and evaluation in accordance with the
WHO/EMRO BDN guidelines and tools; Providing leadership to the technical support team
for BDN activities, maintaining harmony within the team and facilitating intersectoral
coordination for community support;

Making situation analysis through baseline household and need assessment survey; and leading
in development of area development plan, proposal and feasibilities of health, social and
economic development projects by the community, in close consultation with the concerned
departments;
Conducting operational research in community health and development and proposing
innovative developmental strategies in the light of local cultural norms and situations;

Some Trainings and workshops


2004-Hygiene promotion and Health Education, conducted by UNICEF covering
definition of hygiene and sanitation concept, water and Sanitation related diseases, preventive
measures, preventive behaviors understanding Human behaviors, school sanitation,
participatory Approach, use of Tools, planning tools, problem Analysis and Development
Work-plan for five days.

2003-2005 Teachers, Training course: for nine [9] months period in-services training
2005- Consortium of Education and Training of Adolescents and Child-soldiers in
South Sudan. 2 weeks period facilitated by UNICEF, I was taken to represent child-soldiers
for whole
South Sudan talked the issues affecting child-soldiers and grown up people who did not have
a chance of formal Education. People came up with Alternative Education system of:
Accelerating learning programme [ALP] community Girls School [CGS] Pastoralist
Teaching and strengthening of Adult Education in South Sudan.

2005-Youth Mentors life skills workshop facilitated by National Organization of Peer


Education [NOPE] organized by Ministry of Education, funded by UNICEF learnt about:
basic Facts on STI/HIV/AIDS, life skills, gender and sexuality, community Mobilization
communication/Leadership skills, Monitoring and Evaluation and Behavior Change.

2006- Child Psychology and children traumatized by war for one week in Rumbek, Lakes
State done by Save the Children [Sweden] taught about child rights and how to foster the
curiosity of child and their development. Mental, physical and social, how to help Children
with difficulties in school

2006 - Youth Leadership Training Reintegration of former combatants in the


transference of military skills and leadership to civil society. Participated in a train-the-
trainer/mentor-future-youth-leaders pilot project for five day, the course curriculum which
included extensive international research on lessons learned and conflict
mitigation/medication. Techniques for former child soldiers transitioning from
combatant/military to civil society/peace building skills, Gender-sensitivity incorporated into
instruction on the Interim Constitution of Southern Sudan, the Millennium Development
Goals, and Conflict Mitigation for use with community and tribal leaders in Lakes state.

2006-Girls Education Movement training of Facilitators, learned about workshop


organization, creative facilitation, Effective communication, aspects of the Ministry of
Education Science and Technology [MoEST] Go to School initiative and Girl Education
Movement [GEM], Gender Roles, Girls Education and life skills, Social Mobilization peer
support and school mapping skills, formation, practice and activities of a GEM club,
stakeholders Analysis, consolidating and monitoring of GEM work-plan, reporting skills,
HIV prevention Skills, Mine Risk Education. For five days.

2007: Computer Training: course for nine months awarded advance certificate Rumbek in
Lakes State

2007- Child friendly school training: by UNICEF, this talked about school friendly to
children, making learning to be very conducive and creative for children to explore their
potential fully. Learn to their satisfaction to all genders and teaching staff of the school.

2007-Advanced Security in the Field Conducted by United Mission in South Sudan


[UNMISS] Department of Safety and Security for Four days at WHO in Lakes State

2008-Diseases surveillance and Rapid response training workshop for 5 days


Lead by World Health Organization, it was inclusive workshop of all Health sectors to frame
the way of disease surveillance and responses to investigate any outbreak of strange disease
with quick response by joining hands to curbs the problem of Health.

2008- Training on home based care [HBC] in relation to TB and HIV/AIDS conducted at
the Malteser International Lab School for three days.

2009-H1NI training by World Health Organization with partnership of Ministry of Health


Government of South Sudan [GoSS] for one week in Juba, I was chosen as WHO
Representative and Health officer in my state along with other two colleagues to train others
at state level about H1N1.
