Various ICT Tools

Computer:
A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out an arbitrary
set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. The ability of computers
to follow a sequence of operations, called a program, make computers very
applicable to a wide range of tasks. Such computers are used as control
systems for a very wide variety of industrial andconsumer devices. This
includes simple special purpose devices likemicrowave ovens and remote
controls, factory devices such as industrial robots and computer assisted
design, but also in general purpose devices like personal computers and mobile
devices such assmartphones. The Internet is run on computers and it connects
millions of other computers.

Advantages of computers:
Increases speed of computing and processing information in any
other way.

Computers can store large volumes of information without occupying too

much space, as is in the case of information stored in form of books and paper
documents.
Computer processing eliminates the human errors of computing and
information processing.
possibility of different persons using different versions of the same
information.
The work of entering and editing information is made mush more easy
and simple by software that offer many powerful user friendly features for
performing these tasks.
Computer now offer sophisticated and powerful software for
representing information in rich formats with visual and video facilities.
Computers combined with communication technology offer very fast
speed and rich communication facility at low cost.
Computers, with all these features are now used for automating all kinds
of equipments and processes.

Disadvantage of Computers

The cost of computer and associated equipments is falling steadily. Still these
equipments are and continue to be much more costly as compared to
manual processing equipments like pen and pencil. Also technological
complexity of these equipment makes it more difficult to learn and maintain
these equipments as compared to equipments of manual information
processing.

Use of computers require additional infrastructure, such as power supply

and software back up. This increases the chances of problems due to failure of
infrastructure. For example, a computer will not work where there is no electric
power supply. Even a laptop with a battery will work without power supply only
for a limited period.
Failures of computer system can be more serious and difficult to correct. For
example, one scratch on a hard disk can make the complete data on the disk
inaccessible. In comparison, manual system faults have comparatively limited
impact. One page torn from a cabinet full of documents has no impact on other
documents.
Computers generally reduces the errors of processing. However if there is an
error in input data, it can result in major blunders in the processing which the
computer system is unable to detect. In manu systems the chances of such
blunders passing undetected and corrected is much less.

Internet:
Global communication is easy now thanks to an intricately linked world
wide computer network that we all thee internet. Lots of people use the word
internet to mean going online. Actually the internet is nothing more than the
basic network. Think of it like the telephone network or the network or the
network of highways are networks, just like the internet. In much the same way,
things like world wide web instant messaging chat programs, mp3 music
downloading, and file sharing are all things tat run on tops of the basic
computer network that we call internet. The Internet is collection of standalone
computers.

Advantages:
1) Information on almost every subject imaginable.
2) Powerful search engines
3) Ability to do research from your home versus research libraries.
4) Information at various levels of study. Everything from scholarly articles to
ones directed at children.
5) Message boards where people can discuss ideas on any topic. Ability to get
wide range of opinions. People can find others that have a similar interest in
whatever they are interested in.
6) The internet provides the ability of emails. Free mail service to anyone in the
country.
7) Platform for products like SKYPE, which allow for holding a video conference
with anyone in the world who also has access.
8) Friendships and love connections have been made over the internet by
people involved in love/passion over similar interests.
9) Things such as Yahoo Answers and other sites where kids can have readily
available help for homework.
10) News, of all kinds is available almost instantaneously. Commentary, on that
news, from every conceivable viewpoint is also available.

Disadvantages:

1) There is a lot of wrong information on the internet. Anyone can post anything,
and much of it is garbage.
2) There are predators that hang out on the internet waiting to get unsuspecting
people in dangerous situations.
3) Some people are getting addicted to the internet and thus causing problems
with their interactions of friends and loved ones.
4) Pornography that can get in the hands of young children too easily.
5) Easy to waste a lot of time on the internet. You can start surfing, and then
realize far more time has passed than you realized. Internet and television
together of added to the more sedentary lifestyles of people which further
exacerbates the obesity problem.
6) Internet has a lot of "cheater" sites. People can buy essays and pass them off
as their own far more easily than they used to be able to do.
7) There are a lot of unscrupulous businesses that have sprung up on the
internet to take advantage of people.
8) Hackers can create viruses that can get into your personal computer and ruin
valuable data.
9) Hackers can use the internet for identity theft.
10) It can be quite depressing to be on the internet and realize just how
uneducated so many people have become in today's society.

Iphone:
Apple has released ten generations of iPhone models, each
accompanied by one of the ten major releases of the iOS operating system. The
original 1st-generation iPhone was a GSM phone and established design
precedents, such as a button placement that has persisted throughout all
releases and a screen size maintained for the next four iterations.

Advantages /Pros Of IPhone 5s:

1. 64bit Processor
iPhone 5S is the first mobile phone with 64-bit dual-core processor and its
power can be seen in all segments, especially in 3D games and surfing the
Internet.

2. Aluminum
Housing New
and improved s version of the iPhone 5 is covered by aluminum housing.

3. Touch ID Fingerprint
Sensor
You can unlock your iPhone 5S with the touch ID sensor, integrated into
the home button. Once your fingerprint is scanned, you will unlock the phone.

4. Excellent Camera
A great 8MP camera makes amazing photos, even better than some
other phones with 13MP camera. Video clips are sharp with constant frame-rate,
and the video recording is possible with a resolution up to 1080p at 30fps.

5. EarPods Headphones
With these headphones, and special noise canceling technology, the
sound is perfect.
Disadvantages/ Cons Of IPhone 5S:
1. Scratches
Even though high-quality aluminum housing of the phone is one of the phones
advantages, many users have reported that the cover can be easily scratched.
However, the problem is usually related to the black model of the phone.

2. New Lightning 30-Pin Adapter

Apple decided to change the iPhone cable that was used to synchronize and
transfer data. Many issues have been reported.

3. The Battery Cannot Be Changed

A slightly larger battery of 1560 mAh against 1440 on 4s cannot be changed, and
you have to admit it is a bit annoying.

4. There Is No Memory Card

A removable memory card is still not an option.

5. Display 4 Only
The 4 screen is relatively small compared to the competition, which is
why this may be one of the biggest disadvantages of this iPhone model.

I-pod:
The iPod is a line of portable media players and
multi-purpose pocket computers designed and marketed by Apple
Inc. The first version was released on October 23, 2001, about 8 months
after iTunes (Macintosh version) was released. The most recent iPod redesigns
were announced on July 15, 2015. There are three current versions of the iPod:
the ultra-compact iPod Shuffle, the compact iPod Nano and the
touchscreen iPod Touch.
Advantages

Since their initial launch, iPods have been lauded for their large storage
capacity (up to 160 gigabytes for the sixth generation iPod), high quality
music playback, and easy portability due to small size. Other advantages
include the ability to playback multiple formats, such as audio-books, videos,
and photos. In recent years there has been discussion of iPod use in business
management.

One other selling feature of the iPod is its compact design. Most MP3 players
have numerous buttons, but the iPod design uses a patented scroll-and-click
wheel that many users find less cumbersome than buttons. To prepare an
iPod for file transfer, all that is needed is a USB cord provided with the unit.

The iPod contains a number of features that are associated with productivity,
including a calendar, contacts list and notepad. It also can be loaded with
applications and games through the iTunes program.

Disadvantages

The most common complaints about the iPod are the high cost (ranging from
$99 to $229), limited one-year warranty, and the inability to replace the
internal battery. The iPod internal battery runs down over time, and must be
sent to Apple to be replaced or the warranty is voided.
Other user-reported problems include that relatively simple tasks for other
devices, such as flash drives, are complicated on the iPod. An iPod can be
used as a hard drive for excess storage, but doing so involves taking several
steps that are not widely known to less-experienced users.

The iPod's cost is another factor. Other MP3 players can be purchased for
less, leading a number of users to claim that the customer is simply
purchasing the Apple brand name instead of a superior product.

Digital camera:
A digital camera or digicam is a camera that produces digital images
that can be stored in a computer, displayed on a screen and printed.[1] Most
cameras sold today are digital,[2] and digital cameras are incorporated into
many devices ranging from PDAs andmobile phones (called camera phones) to
vehicles.

Advantages of Digital Cameras:

Eliminates Film Processing

This is probably the most significant of all digital camera advantages. With
digital cameras, you simply click the picture and transfer it to your computer
using the camera's data cable.
Massive Photo Storage
Digital cameras can easily store up to 10,000 photos, depending on the size of
the memory card. This completely outweighs the storage capacity of traditional
roll film cameras.
Operating Speed
In case of earlier cameras, one always had to wind the film after clicking a
photograph. This led to a certain amount of time delay and inconvenience. No
such activity is required in case of digital cameras. Digital cameras are simple
point and shoot, complete with auto focus and image stabilizing.
Preview of Images
Digital cameras have viewing screens on the camera body which allow you to
view the image as soon as you have clicked it.
User-friendly Features
High-end digital cameras have been meticulously designed for face detection
through the camera lens. Hence you can say goodbye to all those blurry faces
and red-eye photographs. These days, high-end digital cameras also come
equipped with inbuilt motion detection mechanisms which adjust moving
images and thereby avoid blurriness.
Editing and Sharing Options
Digital photography enables you use editing software to do a variety of things to
your images. You can upload your images to a computer and make them sepia,
or erase unwanted objects, images, colors from a photograph. With digital
photos it easier to share them with everyone around the world using social
media, or you put them up for public viewing on an image uploading site or
online store.
Video Recording
Today, most digital cameras come fully-equipped with inbuilt video recording
features. So if you come across something that you would prefer to record
rather than click, you can easily do it using the same camera.
Environment-friendly
Using a digital camera is easier on the environment. With the world encouraging
and moving towards a greener planet, processing film using toxic chemicals is
obviously bad for the environment, what with more and more governments
regulating the processing of film. Now, with digital images say goodbye to long
processing time and processes.
Disadvantages of Digital Cameras
Storage Space
The size of a digital image can be substantially large and it won't be long before
your designated storage space fills up. This leaves the user with the option of
extending his existing storage space with a hard drive or extra memory card.
Increase in storage space, naturally, comes at a price which may seem slightly
on the higher side. In certain rare cases, the memory card can become corrupt
or can develop other problems which can result in loss of data.
Battery Consumption
Battery consumption is much more faster in case of digital cameras. This makes
it necessary to keep a few spare batteries in hand, especially during lengthy
photo sessions.
Durability
It is vital to pay attention to the ambient weather while using a digital camera as
they are sensitive to heat, extreme cold and moisture in comparison to the old
film cameras. A digital camera is susceptible to extreme conditions that may
cause malfunction and hence are rendered useless when using in snow or rain
or desert areas.
Complexity
An individual using a digital camera needs to know how to upload and edit
images and be tech savvy with using computers. With a wide array of features
and functions crammed in a digital camera, for those who aren't technologically
inclined may find it overwhelming to learn digital photography.
Disadvantages:
digital cameras are slowly being over-shadowed by immense
technological advancement in the field of electronics. The prices of 'digicams'
have become relatively cheaper than what they were a few years ago. Going by
this fact, there is a little doubt that, very soon advanced digital cameras will
shed all their disadvantages and become affordable to everyone.

Tablet:
An android tablet is tablet-sized that runs of google android operating
system.Android tablets include almost all the key features found in a regular
tablet pc, includoing office application games, web browers an many other
programs. However because the android platform is designed by google, google
cloud based applications are integrated into android tablets. Android 3.0 code
named honeycomb, was the first android version designed specifically for tablet
computers. A tablet pc is a portable pc tht is hybrid between a personal difficult
assisted and notebook pc.
Advantages:
They hardly weight anything so they are easy to carry round.
You dont have to connect any caples to it unless for charging.
Really small so can fit in handbags of satchels.
Disadvantages:
Cant do much work on them as they dont include software such as
microsoft, outlook etc.,
Arent very useful when it comes to typing stuff in alot harder than a laptop
or desktop as for the touchscreen.
Maynot allow to save things with big storage as it hasnt got a lot of space.

Interactive white board:

Explain everything is an east-to-use design, screen casting, and
interactive whiteboard tool with real-time collaboration that lets up
Animate, record, annate, collaborate and explore ideas, knowledge and
understanding. It provides teachers and students on opportunity to share
thinking, reflect upon knowledge building and assess both products and
processes of learning.
