Goal/objective 1: Sue will use her picture communication system to


communicate her wants and needs effectively.
o Strategy: Teachers will learn more about using pictures as
communication for children with autism by attending a workshop on
the topic. The teachers will then implement these strategies into the
classroom to use with Sue.
o Evaluation Activity: Classroom observation

Goal/objective 2: Sue will begin to participate in all classroom activities as


stated on her schedule.
o Strategy: Teachers will put pictures of activities on Sues schedule
that are similar to the other childrens and attempt to have her
participate in them. Attempting to involve Sue will include using most-
to-least prompting in order for her to complete the activities. Involving
Sue will also require teachers to create developmentally appropriate
activities for her skill level.
o Evaluation Activity: Classroom observation, number of completed
activities.

Goal/objective 3: Sue will interact socially with other students at least one
time during each classroom activity.
o Strategy: Pair Sue with a different peer each day and schedule them
to be in play and group work at the same time. Facilitate
communication and interactions between the two children.
o Evaluation Activity: Classroom observation, number of social
interactions between Sue and her peers

Goal/Objective 4: The classroom will become more organized in order to


decrease child distractions and all materials in the play area will become
accessible to the children.
o Strategy: Put the bookshelves that are currently high up on the wall
on the ground in the play area. Clean out the teacher time area (get rid
of the materials that are not used) in order to create more space at the
table. Remove clutter on the shelves in other areas of the classroom as
well.
