Morris Library, Southern Illinois University, 2015Present
Information Desk Assistant
Answer patrons questions in person, over the phone, and online. Direct patrons towards relevant library
resources and materials. Developed expert knowledge in all aspects of Morris Library and Southern Illinois
University to leave no questions unanswered.
Trained in multiple library classification systems as well as operating microfilm, dozens of databases,
troubleshooting computers, printers, scanners, and being able to learn any new technologies or systems
quickly.
Czech National Library of Technology Prague, Czech Republic, January-May 2017
Communications Intern
Created video content advertising and explaining the librarys services. Copy edited English language website
content for correctness and clarity. Attended and presented at weekly training meetings to further my
knowledge and skills as a librarian.
Worked with the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry to create promotional materials
highlighting the Institutes success
Advanced my understanding of intercultural communication in a professional setting by working directly
with people of different nationalities and native languages. Adapted to the work environment and
expectations of the Czech Republic.
Effingham Public Library, Effingham, IL, 20142015
Youth Services Assistant & Shelver
Managed the Youth Services Desk and supervised the children's area of the library. Greeted children and their
families, then helped them with material selection, recommendations, and handled any potential problems or
issues.
Lead or assisted with programming including crafts, story times, and educational speakers. Participated in the
planning of fun and engaging library events for kids, teens, and families that were sponsored by the library
and other community organizations.
Handled aspects of Helen Matthes Library's transition to Effingham Public Library, including moving
materials to the new location, hosting previews of the new location, and prepping the new building for the
public to use.
Developed an understanding of the Circulation process from the bottom up. Shelved books, DVDs, CDs, are
more according to multiple organizational systems.

CAMPUS AND VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE


Student Programming Council, Southern Illinois University, 2016
SPC Talks Director & Sunset Concerts Host
Planned speakers and lecturers for the SIU and Carbondale community. Handled everything from selecting
speakers, booking, scheduling, price negotiation, venue selection, and budget management. Collaborated with
other campus organizations to cosponsor events.
Managed meetings and recruited members of the SPC Talks Committee to assist with event planning.
Presented all events, expenses, and plans to the Student Programming Council Board of Directors for
approval.
Introduced weekly musical acts for crowds of 1000+. Welcomed performers and acted as a liaison between
them and concert administration.

Saluki Ambassador
Represent SIU to prospective students and their families. Recruit future students by leading high energy
campus tours, communicating with prospective students through postcards, and serving as the face of the
university.
