First Reflection
My name is Jared Aulisi and I am currently eighteen years old. I am a current freshman at
University of North Carolina at Charlotte and my major at the moment is undecided. Fortunately,
I hope to soon apply for the Bachelor of Arts program and major in Visual Arts or Graphical
Design. I originate from Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, which is forty minutes southeast of
Charlotte, located in Union County. I happen to be much more successful in History and English
courses, rather than Math and Science, so hopefully this course will be easy to excel in.
I am curious about a lot of things actually, and it can range from many different aspects
of one subject. Im curious about rhetorics, because I still have a hard time grasping the idea of
rhetorical knowledge and how it works. I happened to learn that in my previous writing class, but
I hope to learn more about it in this class and really grasp the ideas of egos, logos, pathos, and all
the other elements that apply to rhetorical knowledge. Im also pretty curious about how to
brainstorm ideas better, I tend to be pretty creative but when it comes to brainstorming ideas in
class, my mind tends to go blank and I cant function out any logical ideas. Hopefully, in this
I tend to struggle to review other people's work in a great manor. Whenever I see
someone elses work its hard for me to point out flaws and relate it to mine. So I am very much
curious about how to compare and contrast work and critique it correctly so that they may benefit

from it. I hope in this class we are able to learn more about how to critique things in a correct
manner. Often I just tend to go over the grammatical errors of a paper instead of the actual
meaning behind the text and then hand it back saying that it is good to go. Hopefully, out of this
class I can learn to review papers much better than I previously could. I am curious about how
we are going to do projects in this class. I know there is an e-portfolio that is due by the end,
which I have accomplished in my previous course. However, in this class, the way the e-portfolio
is made and done could be completely different. The other projects as well, are we going to be
doing more essays or more group projects within this course? I hope to learn how to progress
better in group projects and work so that my participation skills can get better.
The last thing I am curious about is how to not only read a text in a different point of
view, but also how to analyze it better. I struggle to analyze a text in a different perspective other
than my own, which is why it is so difficult to analyze peer work, as I stated I struggle with
earlier. I hope to learn how to analyze different texts better and really get behind the true
meaning of what it actually represents. If I could learn all of this out of this class, I think it will
make me a better student in so many different aspects than I could ever imagine. I just hope to do
