Brief Description of Learning Experience: his activity addresses the standardMGSE2.MD.8: Solve word
problems involving dollar bills, quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies, using $ and symbols
appropriately. Example: If you have 2 dimes and 3 pennies, how many cents do you have? After
watching the flipped classroom video that I created on my Edublogs site, I will review what they learned
from watching the video in class the next day. That week, students will continue to learn how to count
money and use the appropriate symbols correctly. The next week, students will create their own video about
how to count money and when they know what sign to use. After they publish their video file, they will
also have to watch two of their classmates videos and comment what they liked about the video.

Therefore, the students will learn about the standard in class for a week, and have the next week to
make the video. The two comments that each student will post on two other videos will be due the first day
of the following week. Obviously, the audience for this lesson is first and foremost the students and teacher.
However, this lesson also enables the students to share their video with family and friends or any one else
interested.
Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking: What LoTi level would this lesson be and Why? This activity will
have a LoTi of 5 because they are creating and audio file and sharing it on the classroom blog, assuming
adult roles as teachers, evaluating peers, and using two different types of technology.

Importance of technology: Why is using a multimedia authoring tools critical to the project? Could the project be
completed without this technology? What would be lost without using it? What other types of technology, if any, are
going to be used in the learning experience? Multimedia authoring tools are critical for this project because the project
could not be completed without movie make or another movie making software. Movie making software is necessary to create an
original movie. Using Edublogs as a way to share the video offers the students the safety and privacy needed since it is a
secure classroom blog.

When implementing this learning experience, I will follow all of the

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:
Internet Safety and Acceptable Use Policies. To minimize student and teacher risk, I will make sure that the
students create the video on a software such as movie maker that does not have any access to the internet.
Additionally, I will make sure that the students only mention their first name in the video, and offer no
other personal information. When the students are ready to upload their video onto the classroom blog, they
will have to receive my approval that the video adheres to all internet laws. The classroom blog will have a
page that only consists of the videos the students created. The video page will be private and only students
and parents will have access to the page to view the videos. The student comments and discussions will be
monitored and regulated by me as I will have to approve all of the comments before they are posted.
