Standard #8: Instructional Strategies

I think that this best fits the teacher interview because I learned instructional strategies to

encourage early young teachers and learn to build skills.

Why Did You Decide to Enter Teaching?

After speaking with Mrs. Howard what made her decide on making her career path teaching was

How the teachers had treated her growing up.. She had said, I didnt really like the teachers that

I had growing up, and I wanted to be a better teacher for children. A lot of the time there are

many teachers out there in the world that are only teaching for money. I would like to be that

teacher that will have such a positive influence on young childrens lives and help them strive in

education. Every child should be treated equally and have the same rights being in the classroom.

I believe that if children comfortable in the environment they are in it will make it a lot easier for

them to focus in the classrooms. Mrs. Howard had stated, She was a stay at home mom for a

few years and then a teacher for about six years. The grade levels that she had taught was 5th,

6th, 7th, and 8th mostly the subject area was Language Arts.

Qualifications as a teacher

A good teacher should consist of having many different qualifications. Mrs. Howard had

explained that she believes a good teacher should be flexible, know the material being taught,

and know the disabilities of children if they struggle in different areas. One thing that Im hoping

to have when I become a teacher is having good classroom management skills. I want students to

be able to understand each material being taught, and lead them to becoming successful in the

students future studies. A good teacher is accountable and holds themselves to the same

expectations, and standards as they hold in their students (Meador, 2005).

How do you maintain confidentially and liability issues in classrooms?

A way that Mrs. Howard maintains confidentially and liability issues in the classroom is

that she deals with each parent individually. If a parent has a problem with something in the

classroom or something that pertains to their children she make sure that every single question is

answered to the best of her potential. Thats one thing that I had really admired about her in the

classroom. She always makes sure that she puts her students first regardless of what the situation

pertains. When Im older and have my own classroom as a teacher I plan on using the ideas that

she sets to be a successful teacher.

How do you support the family of your students in their home?

Mrs. Howard had explained that a way that she supports the family of the students is that

she answers every emails from all of the parents that have different concerns about their children.

How have you developed the family teacher partnership?

One thing that Mrs. Howard had said that she does to develop family teacher partnership

is sending emails home every day to parents. She likes for parents to know about the evets

occurring in the classroom, and all of the different learning material the children are learning

every day. Parents can benefit from being involved in their childrens education by getting ideas

from school on how to help and support their children. Parents also learn by the schools

academic program (Federation, 2001).

What role have you seen diversity play within your school?
TEACHER INTERVIEW 6

Mrs. Howard had stated, We have to acknowledge all the ethnics in the classroom and

make sure that every student gets treated equally. Ive always thought that being treated equally

in the classroom and in the school is one of the most important things that should occur in

classrooms. For example, the Robertson school recognizes the critical importance of educating

its students to embrace diversity as an important factor (Robertson; ND). I really liked how Mrs.

Howard had mentioned about acknowledging every ethnic, and she had also talked about the

importance of it.
