Why Curved?
For many people, their choice of Curved monitors comes down to a combination of personal
taste, their love of the design, and the way they use their monitor.
Samsung has developed curved monitor solutions to meet the needs of the many Australians
who want a solution that provides an immersive and rich viewing experience.
Medical professionals have also found through research that curved monitors may also
assist with reduced eye strain and create a more comfortable viewing experience for some
users.
Harvard University has announced research that found that participants who used a
Samsung curved monitor for an intensive onscreen task were less likely to report eye strain,
difficulty focussing, blurred vision, and eye tiredness, when compared to participants who
used a flat screen for the same task.
The study, Comparison of Flat and Curved Monitors: Eyestrain Caused by Intensive Visual
Search Task, asked participants to complete a range of content identification exercises and
rated their levels of comfort.1

Samsung Curved Range sizes and degrees of curvature
Samsung is focussed on offering an amazing monitor experience for Australians. We are also
committed to extending our curved monitor range to support the evolving needs of
everyday users.
The Samsung range of monitors provides a choice of curved monitors, available in a range of
sizes and degrees of curvature.
There are a few key elements to consider when considering a curved monitor.
The first is the size of the panel and the space you have allocated to place the monitor, the
second is the degree to which the monitor is curved.
The specific calculation that Samsung uses in order to provide a degree rating, is based on
the following equation:
Inputs:
1) Aspect Ratio - e.g. 16:9 (Where large number is a and small number is b)
2) Screen size e.g. 27 (standard diagonal measurement in inches represented by s)
