Phi Kappa Tau Responds to Incident at the University of Maryland

May 3, 2017: Oxford, OhioThe Beta Omicron Chapter of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity is fully
cooperating with, and supportive of, an ongoing police investigation into an alleged hate crime that took
place at our on-campus fraternity property on the University of Maryland, College Park campus.

We are shocked and appalled, said A.J. Coleman, Beta Omicron Chapter President. The chapters
reaction to this event has been confusion and outrage. For all of us, it is beyond the realm of belief that
anyone could have perpetrated such a heinous act.

Upon notification, the chapter leadership took prompt action and reported the matter to a campus official,
who then informed University police. The chapter, in close collaboration with Phi Kappa Tau alumni
leaders and the Fraternitys Executive Offices, is working together with the University administration to
support the investigation and support all of those affected by this action.

Phi Kappa Tau is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination for all our fraternity
members, guests, employees and volunteers said Wm. Tim Hudson, Chief Executive Officer. These
actions do not align with Phi Kappa Taus values and any association of intolerant behavior is not
consistent with the operations of the Fraternitys chapter at the University of Maryland.
