Course Objectives
Students in Tenth Grade Literature and Composition will integrate all the language skills
gained throughout their education. The curriculum both affirms these skills and equips the
students to be life-long learners. Students continue to explore Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry,
Dramas, and literacy contexts with a focus on World Literature. According to Common Core
Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) the emphasis is on argumentation by developing a
position of advocacy through reading, writing, speaking, listening, and using media.

This course has been designed to offer an introduction to Tenth Grade Literature and
Composition beginning with different short stories from America and travel around the world.
We will focus on developing our understanding of the hero/heroine experience as is presents
itself in the works of different world authors.
