Me: Hello and welcome to an exclusive interview with Dwight Eisenhower

Dwight: Hi there! Glad to be here with my fellow americans today. Remind me

what city Im in again?

Me: You are in Salt Lake City Utah sir,

Dwight: Ah yes! Thats right. All the explosions from the war have made my head
a little discombobulated. Salt lake City.I remember this place because of that
I-80 road. Ill tell you more about that later.

Me: So..Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Dwight: Well what is it you would like to know?

Me: Lets start with the basics. Where are you from?

Dwight: I was born in Denison, Texas in October 1890. I dont remember much
because we moved to Kansas when I was only two so thats where I call home. I
was the third of seven boys. Out of the litter I was the Strongest, toughest, and
bravest. I am after all El Presidente.

Me: Wow! Lots of boys. Can you tell us about how you grew up and how you
became the person you are today?

Dwight: Well sure thing miss lady! I grew up an outdoorsmen. As well as an Avid
reader. My mother had various collections of military history books that I read on a
daily basis. I attended west point military school and graduated back in 1915 as a
general officer. During world war 1 I was the trainer for the soldiers in combat.

Me: Was there any type of romance in your life during that point?
Dwight: Why yes, she is the apple to my eye. Her name is Mamie. I proposed to
this beautiful woman on Valentines day in 1960. Im quite the hopeless romantic.

Me: Any kids?

Dwight: We had two beautiful boys and one died from the wretched scarlet fever.
My second son followed my footsteps and also attended west point.

Me: Was there any kind of religious influence in your life?

Dwight: Religion was a major part of my upbringing seeing that my parents were
both Jehovah's witnesses which shaped me into the man I am today. However, I do
not claim myself to be any religion just a deeply spiritual man.

Me: Can you tell us a bit about your military background?

Dwight: Do you mean my entire life? (Chuckles) Yes, my entire adult life was
spent working my way up the chain of command to eventually make it to chief of
staff and commander of the third army during world war 2. In World war 2 I was
responsible for military operations to overthrow Japan and Germany. I guess you
could call me a war hero. Im kind of a big deal.

Me: Lets talk a bit about how you became president?

Dwight: In 1945 Truman came to me and told me that the president would help me
to win the 1948 presidential election. I was standoffish at first but as 1948
approached everyone around me told me to run. I decided not to run at this time.
During the Korean war I finally decided to run for the 1952 election as a
republican. I won the election by promising to bring the troops home. I sought
peace through Free World strength in an era of new nationalisms, nuclear missiles,
and space exploration.
Me: I remember it! I brought a video of a campaign ad with me. (Dwight
Eisenhower Presidential Election) I like Ike.

Me: So ultimately what party would you say you represent?

Dwight: Die. Hard. Republican. Texas, guns, red meat, glory. For the first time in
20 years Republicans run the show.

Me: Please tell us about your biggest accomplishments during your presidency?

Dwight: In 1953 I signed an armed peace agreement along the border of south
korea. I worked with our European Allies throughout my presidency to bring about
peace. I also signed into effect the desegregation of schools and the army There
must be no second class citizens in this country Throughout my presidency I
fought for peace as well as keeping our troops home. I also created the department
of health, education and welfare. I strengthened Social Security and raised
minimum wage. I noticed on my over here You have quite a lovely interstate.
Who do you think came up with that? I might or might not have constructed over
41,000 miles of roads across the country. Which ultimately changed the economy
because of the faster travel time. Eisenhower Doctrine, the policy that if another
country is threatened militarily by another country they can request both economic
and military aid with the U.S.

Me: What would you say your biggest weaknesses and downfalls of your
presidency have been?

Dwight: I would say my top fails where, I failed to moderate the republican party
because they essentially did not want to change. I failed to provide leadership
during civil rights movement. At the beginning of my term I failed to protect civil
rights and the 1954 brown case. However I managed to desegregate many schools
and the army as well as assign people to the government to pass laws to protect
civil rights. My biggest failure was to diffuse the cold war, I tried and failed.
Me: Alright Mr. Eisenhower that is all for today, thank you for your time.

Closing statement: Dwight will be remembered every time you drive on the
interstate you can thank him, as well as a decorated war hero during world war
two, numerous schools have been named after him. Ultimately during his
presidency he made a lot of changes and improved our country in numerous ways.
Thank you for your time.
