Unit Plan Reflection

This Unit Plan was all about measurements, something that at the time of making I had
alright idea of what to do with my students in the classroom. That is to say this was at a time
where I was trying to better myself, but I still had some problems. The lesson itself was
wonderful as students love the game at the first of the week that taught them how to make tally
marks and a pictograph. The game itself was a fun way to introduce students to the concept of
pictographs as it gave them something to be invested in because they were on teams.

The students reacted to it the way that I had wanted, they wanted to learn pictographs. As
the week progressed I saw students understanding what I was teaching and saw how they work
out the problems on the papers that I gave them. I also did learn that we didnt have time for the
number lines that week and they had to be pushed back by the bar graph lesson. I once again
used the ball game to teach the bar graph to students and at first it seemed to be going well. Then
as the lesson progressed I saw just how confused many students were at the idea of the bar graph
and it had to be extended to the next day.

If I had to do it differently I would have liked to make more pictograph and bar graph
physical objects to use. The only one I got to use was the bar graph I had made out of sponges
and the students loved that.
