If drilling is abandoned (existing reinforcements), the hole must be plugged with resin and a new hole drilled.
4 - Hole cleaning
THE RESIN PERFORMANCE IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO ITS ADHESION TO THE CONCRETE.
In order to guarantee the performances stated in our technical documentation, it is essential to comply with the operating
instructions below:
Blow 2 times starting from the far end of the hole and gradually
x2 moving back out. If compressed air is used, it has to be oil-free.
Brush out the hole 2 times using a metal brush adapted to the hole
diameter (1) (use extensions for deep holes).
x2
Blow 2 times starting from the far end of the hole and gradually
moving back out. The return air stream has to be free of noticeable
dust.
5
4.2 - CLEANING IF DIAMOND DRILLING IS USED
After drilling, clean the hole with water until it runs clear
(insert the hose right to the end of the hole).
Brush out the hole 2 times, using a metal brush adapted to the

(1) During this elapsed time, the rebar position in the hole can be modified and/or the resin quantity topped up. After this
elapsed time, the rebar must not be manipulated any more.
(2) After this time, the complete load can be applied to the rebar.
(3) The cartridge temperature has to be at least 5C (T 5C).
Preservation/Reuse:
After use, clean the cartridge thread and screw the cap tightly.
Use a new mixer when the cartridge is re-used.
If the conditions above are applied, the cartridge use-by-date remains the same, even after opening.
Storage:
Keep in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Avoid ongoing exposure to direct sunlight.
Storage temperature: between 5 and 35 C.
Use-by-date: Available on the cartridge label (check before each use), example : 16.09.14= 16 September 2014.
Product shelf life: EPOBAR/EPOMAX : 16 months, EPCON C8 : 3 years, (from manufacturing date).

1 - Mechanical characteristics of HA
B500B rebars for concrete
The standard defining rebars characteristics has been revised; the applicable standards are French standard NF
A35-016-1 (November 2007) and European standard NF EN 10080 (September 2005). The steel designation
Fe E500 has been replaced by the new designation B500B.

2 - Conditions of use and resins
performances
EPCON C8 and EPOBAR/EPOMAX behaviour in wet environment have been tested in accordance with ETA guidelines
and technical report TR 023 concerning post-installed rebar connections; with test results, the resins use in wet drillng
EPCON C8 and EPOBAR/EPOMAX are watertight and suitable for use in wet environment.
Temperature tests have been performed form 20C to 140C in accordance with ETA guidelines, Section 5 "Bonded
anchors" (March 2001 edition). For the different temperatures tested, tear-out tests were performed after exposing the
fixings to a constant temperature in an oven for 24 hours. The temperature influence is represented in the graph below:

2.5 - RESISTANCE TO CHEMICAL AGENTS
Chemical resistance was determined by exposing resin samples to various chemicals. The samples resistance was determined by visual
observation and classified in three categories: rsistant (+) , sensible (o) . non-resistant (-).
Resistant (+): The samples in contact with the chemical did not show any visible damage, such as cracks, damaged surfaces, broken
angles, or significant swelling.
Sensible (o): to be used with precaution depending on exposure and usage field. The samples in contact with the chemical are slightly attacked.
Non resistant (-): usage not recommended. The samples in contact with the substance were damaged.
Sulfurous atmosphere for 80 cycles alternating 8 hours in a sulfur dioxide atmosphere and 16 days in a laboratory atmosphere. The sulfur
dioxide atmosphere corresponds to the introduction of 0.67% of SO2 in an room at 40C, 100 RH (relative humidity); sulfuric acid is
therefore created in contact with resin.
The obtained results for these tests provide a guarantee that the bond strength of the resins is not affected by any of these conditions.

FIRE RESISTANCE FOR STEEL REINFORCEMENT WALL / SLAB
The present table is aimed at supplying data for
the design of the injection anchoring system when
exposed to fire. This study does not deal with the
mechanical design at ambient temperature, neither
does it deal with the design according to other
accidental sollicitations, these shall be done in addition.
The table below gives performances subjected to fire
exposure in wall to slab connection with concrete
reinforcing bar, using SPIT EPOBAR/EPOMAX resin, in
C20/25 concrete.
The values in white character indicate the
proof of requirements to fire is satisfied with
fi= 0,7 in a C20/25 concrete (see method

FIRE RESISTANCE FOR STEEL REINFORCEMENT WALL / SLAB
The present table is aimed at supplying data for
the design of the injection anchoring system when
exposed to fire. This study does not deal with
the mechanical design at ambient temperature,
neither does it deal with the design according to
other accidental sollicitations, these shall be done in
addition.
The table below gives performances subjected to fire
exposure in wall to slab connection with concrete
reinforcing bar, using SPIT EPCON C8 resin, in
C20/25 concrete.
The values in white character indicate the
proof of requirements to fire is satisfied with
fi= 0,7 in a C20/25 concrete (see method
below).
Design method for resistance to fire according to Eurocode 2: fire proof using design resistance = Rd,fi Ed,fi
Rd,fi Design resistance in the fire situation.
Ed,fi Design effect of actions in the fire situation This value could be calculated from the calculation at ambient
temperature: Ed,fi = fi x FRdu.
FRdu Design ultimate limit load at normal temperature for one rebar sealing at the anchorage depth Ls (mm).
fi Reduction factor for design load level in the fire situation. fi equals to 0,7.
