Case Study and Classroom Management Reflection

My Case study was done way back in April 12, 2012 with a first grade student I had
renamed Emma Rose. The case study was preformed to see how well I could gather information
on a student/child and put that data to relevant use. When I did write the case study I will admit I
did know the subject well enough to not ask most questions, but a few still eluded me. Once I
had those questions I learned how that student reacted to certain situations in the classroom that I
did not know about, such as them not finishing homework or sleeping in class. This information
helped me watch classes more carefully in the future for similar behavior.

This was for the best as judging students in the past few years that I have seen with some
being extremely similar to Emma and other being completely different. Of course I didnt have
too much access in the students personally life like I did with Emma, but the point still stands
that I understood what to do with students because of her.

Classroom Management was a bit of a tough subject for me as I had little to contribute to
making a classroom I could not see. Once I had a model to work with I realize how well I could
actually work in a classroom. Beyond that my observation during Mrs. Guills Classroom
Management presentation at Bluefield State College helped out when I began my student
teaching. The way to treat students with respect and give them responsibilities is an amazing way
of controlling a student into behaving in a normal manner.

I defiantly used this knowledge during my time as a student teacher mostly to keep
students that had trouble understanding how to react in a normal classroom situation. I am glad
that I had such good presenters to show me the way long ago.
