EV ENT S POT L IGHT:

Whole Foods Market Tour

V ICE P R ES ID ENT'S NOT E

C rystal Leahy

Hi Moms!

What does MOMS Club mean to you? How does it play a role
in your life? What would you like to see more of or less of?
Did you know that while MOMS Club is an international
organization, each chapter is run on volunteer power?
Members volunteer to serve on the board in a variety of
roles. We plan events, work to recruit new members, accept
and manage member dues, write the newsletter, and set up
meal trains to name just a few of our duties. This year's
board has also been constantly brainstorming how to
increase member involvement, recruitment, and retention.

I would love to hear your suggestions. What is your vision of

MOMS Club? What were you hoping for when you joined? Is
there something the club did in the past that you would like
to see brought back? All ideas big or small are welcome.
Please send me a Facebook message, email, or talk to me at
an upcoming event.

I hope March is off to a great start for all of you. I for one
am ready for some warmer temperatures and for my kids to
stop passing the same cold back and forth!

Hope to hear from you soon,

Crystal Leahy

prospective members and their children are In March, MOMS Club of Eugene, Oregon took a guided tour of the brand new Whole
welcome at all member socials. Foods Market located at 353 E Broadway Street. An friendly employee walked us
through each section of the store pointing out the unique qualities of Whole Foods
Spacer Market such as an array of organic and local produce and a a full butcher shop. All
of the seafood in the sustainable seafood department is labeled according to the
Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program to make it easy for shoppers to
make environmentally informed decisions.

In addition to a full service deli, Whole Foods Market includes a full bakery, cheese
B OO K CLU B Boo k of t h e Mont h: shop, floral department, an olive bar, a pizza, tacos, and beer shop, and a delicious
variety of prepared hot and cold foods. Kids can check in at the customer service
counter for a coloring book and stickers and help themselves to a free piece of fruit
Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty from the kids club fruit basket.

After the tour, we enjoyed a bite to eat and some samples from Ellenos Greek yogurt
at a reserved seating area upstairs. The variety of food and drinks available along
with the private space made this a great (and free!) location for our group. We should
definitely keep Whole Foods Market on our radar for future MOMS Club get
togethers.

Part of the support we have in MOMS Club of Eugene is

helping each other during times of family additions,
upheaval, and stress. This is not just limited to having a
baby, things like moving or illness in the family also warrant
a need for this program. Our Helping Hands program
provides moms with assistance, usually giving several meals
in a time of need. However, this program can provide more
than just meals. We can arrange assistance with child-care,
running errands, even a phone tree! We want all of our
members to benefit from this program in a time of need and
we are more than willing to customize an assistance
schedule that works well for each situation. Please let us
know if a circumstance should arise in your life and you feel
this program would help you! Contact Tia Merwin for more
information on this program.
