Daily Boardwork
Objective
Using staff paper given to them, students will analyze and perform a short
excerpt from Requiem based on rhythm and solfege, with less than 2 errors in
each category (rhythm and solfege).

1. Students will take out their staff paper and look to the projector screen for
the daily boardwork assignment.

2. Students will transcribe the notation, write out the rhythms underneath,
and the solfege on top of each note. They will also determine the key of
the excerpt.
3. After giving 4 minutes for transcribing and analyzing, the students give the
key signature and will pat the steady beat on their legs and speak the
rhythm.
4. Teacher will informally assess, and repeat if needed.
5. The students will pat the beat and speak the rhythm on solfege.
6. Teacher will informally assess, and repeat if needed.
7. Students will pat the beat and sing the rhythm on solfege.
8. Teacher will informally assess, and repeat if needed.
9. Teacher will ask students if this is familiar to them or if they have heard the
song before. (It is the alto line from Requiem).
