UNCC

1. The college has pretty good culture overall. UNCC has many choices when
comes to Greek life and many students there are a part of a sorority or fraternity.
Also since the university is located in Charlotte theres a very diverse group of
people that attend the school and in the surrounding area. This allows me as a
student to be introduced to many other cultures and meet people from different
walks of life.
2. If I choose to attend UNCC my major would be in Biology and this major is
accredited at this University.
3. In order to transfer you have to have 24 transferable credit hours, if you have
fewer than 24 you will be required to submit an SAT or ACT test score prior to
applying and being accepted.
4. If I complete my associates degree at CPCC I will be able to start at UNCC Fall
2018. This would leave me with two more years of school to complete my major.
5. Three benefits of attending this University would be that I could continue living at
home which would save money for an apartment and housing fees, I would be
able to continue working at my job and school I would know the area in which I
am attending school and feel a little more comfortable with the people I meet in
classes and on campus. Also a major benefit is that this school is used to
working with transfer students from CPCC which would make this one of the
easier schools to transfer to.
6. This is a pretty large campus in a metropolitan area. The school has many clubs
and peer support programs. People that I have spoken to that attend UNCC say
that it is more of a self-taught environment and that you really need to reach out
to professors and your peers if you are having a hard time with a class.
7. - 53% Men 43% Women
- 59% White, 16% Black or African American
- Avg. Age 22
- Part-Time students 12%

8. This a residential campus and they do have housing for transfer and there also
many student apartments around the area. Also the campus is 15 to 20 minutes
from my home so I could also stay home and attend school while getting my
Bachelors here.
9. The average class sizes at UNCC are around 35 students which is slightly larger
than the classes here at CPCC. I wasnt able to find out of the classes were
taught by professors or graduate assistants. That is something that I will need to
find further information about. I can probably find that information out from a
student currently attending there or from a tour of that campus.
10. There are many clubs at the University that focus on doing work positively
affecting the community. There also many rallies held based on issues going on
around the campus and the community and also the country.
11. The main special program that I saw that UNCC provides is the passport
program which allows for students to get some of their credits at a community
college for a lower price and allow them to enroll the next fall semester.

UNC Chapel Hill

1. This university has a major sports culture and has one of the most coveted
basketball programs in the country. It also has a great football and baseball
program. UNC has a pretty good Greek life with around 20% of undergraduate
students who are a part of a fraternity or sorority. They have a rich culture in
sports and when the basketball team is doing well it creates for a very cheerful
and energetic mood throughout the whole campus.
2. At this major I would also pursue a major in Biology This major is also accredited
at this University.
3. You need a minimum of 24 credit hours to transfer to UNC. Completing my
Associates at CPCC will pretty much guarantee that I have all the core credits to
transfer to UNC.
4. If I stay on target with attaining my Associates at CPCC I will be able to enroll at
UNC in the fall of 2018. It should take me two years after that to graduate with
my bachelors from this university.
5. A major benefit of attending this University is the fact that UNC has the top
Dentistry school in North Carolina and one of the top Dentistry schools in the
nation. This is a major plus since I am pursuing a career in dentistry. Also the fact
that UNC is an in-state school which will make my tuition a lot cheaper than
many other Universities that I have researched. Also since UNC is a public
school the tuition is much cheaper than many other universities in North Carolina
6. UNC seems to promote a community atmosphere at their campus. They promote
that there is always a classmate, roommate, or professor 30 seconds away. It
has a feel that there is always someone to support you there and to make you
feel like your all in this by yourself. Also since UNC is the nations first public
school there are many traditions that are kept alive at the school to help enrich
the college experience. Some traditions at the school promote good luck
especially in academics like drinking from the Old Well on campus.
7. 60% female and 40% male; Black 11% White 71% Asian 14% Hispanic 7% and
Native American 2%: The population is majorly white but there is a pretty of many
of the other races which creates a pretty balanced environment. Around 34% of
the students at UNC transferred from a community college that a large amount of
transfer students can get into UNC.
8. This is a residential campus and there is housing for transfer students.
9. The class sizes at UNC vary since its a pretty large school but the largest
percentage of classes which is 34% have 10-19 students which is less than half
of the classes in the University; but it is very rare to be in class with more than 30
students in it.
10. This University plays a major part in its community and it holds many events to
promote awareness on things happening in the surrounding community, the state
of North Carolina, and also the country as a whole.

Next Steps/Action Plan

1 I would like to learn more about the work studies and the internships offered at
both universities. I also would like to find out more about the dentistry program at
UNC Chapel Hill and if they have a program to guide students who are planning
to attend their school of Dentistry after they complete their undergraduate.
2 I need to make sure to stay more focused academically to make sure that I can
attain the highest GPA possible and to also make sure that I complete my
Associates in a timely fashion so I can transfer to a four-year university as soon
as possible.
