The Journal of the Psychology of Music aims to strengthen the scientific

comprehending of psychological music and music education. 3 These studies

introduced by the Psychology of Music including researching on listening, creating,

performing and teaching, analyzing.4 The journal explores the influence of music on

mental health, and the method of teaching that how to improve students skills and

creativity.5 I think the influence of music on mental health is a very interesting topic

that let people know how magical music is. For me, from this journal, I know that the

music not only an art, but therapeutic tool. We can just appreciate the music, but we

also could use music to cure some mental illness. This journal illustrates the diversity

of music, which enables me to have deeper comprehend for my discipline.

 In addition, Psychology of Music mainly published research articles with few book

reviews.6 The writers who published articles in the Psychology of Music are experts

and scholars, and the audiences are consisted of college students, experts and

scholars.7

Each publication of the Psychology of Music is made up of research articles and

book reviews, which means that this field is still being explored. 8 If someone wants to

publish an article in the Psychology of Music then he or she needs to fulfill several

requirements. Firstly, the article at least 4000 words. 9 Secondly, carefully read and

adhere to all the guidelines and instructions.10 Manuscripts not conforming to these

guidelines may be returned. Third, the plagiarism is forbidden, so the plagiarism is a

serious problem in my discipline, because the intellectual property is very important.

Also, this journal has Spanish and Chinese version. 11

In conclusion, the Psychology of Music let me know that writing skills in my field

is important. Although my discipline is piano performance, it does not mean that I can

ignore the importance of writing. There are many articles from the Psychology of

Music delivered important information, including the method of teaching, the method

of effective practicing. Obviously, music performance students also need to improve

writing skill, because we all have chance to publish our articles for sharing our ideas
