Project Budget Narrative Winter/Spring 2017

Project Title: The New Cool

Lets make being an amazing reader the new cool. Currently there is an ongoing
mentoring partnership between Franklin Middle School/Mr. Bs 8th grade advisory class
and 3rd grade Hall students. This successful partnership sparked the idea for a school song
joined with an emphasis on a literacy initiative.

We have had a heavy focus on reading and literacy development through our
weekly partnership and now we want to build on the success and add rigor by moving it
into a project-based learning format. Writing a school song will hopefully have the same
impact it did at Franklin MS last year by increasing academic achievement, decreasing
negative behaviors, and building positive school climate.

In addition, students will also gain knowledge and skills in the area of literacy,
budgeting, project management and communication skills. MN State Standards and ESL
WIDA standards are integrated into this project in a variety of content areas.

Socio-emotional Break corner materials PAID by Michael Bratsch $45.00

Adrian Davis Music Production cost including mobile studio for recording $850.00

A Community Event for Hall student families and community members to share in the
celebration of reading and literacy. The proposed budget will be for supplies for a literacy
event including books, food, and prizes at this event and release of the school song.
