Filtration Column
Each fan module must be assigned a bus address in relation to its position (F1 to F5). The left most fan module P1 is
considered as in position F1. The number of fan modules corresponds to a number of filtration columns linked to a
specific GFH Technologies model. Fan modules have a specific bus address assigned at the factory once the GFH
Technologies model has been identified before shipment. In this case a tag is affixed on the fan board protective
cover; a check box is clearly identified at the bottom of the Fan Module Address tag indicating the position of the fan
module in relation to all others. If this is not the case a bus address can be created in relation to the positioning of
each fan module. This is performed by accessing the bus address switch located in an opening of the fan
management board protective cover found at the front of each fan module. By using the table above as a reference
and a small screw driver position the 4 micro switches in one of two possible positions, ON or OFF.
(It is strongly recommended to perform this procedure before positioning all filtration
columns in a manner that is stable and safe).

Once cable has been connected to the electric power connection box , attach command module e on 2 hooks
located at the base of the command module metal support plate k. Maintain command module tilted forward and
pass all hose and connection cables (2,5,6,7,8 & 9) in the access portal hole in location X determined by the gfht
partner/integrator.
WARNING: If the unit is to be connected to an Ethernet network, an RJ 45 cable (not supplied) can be connected to
female RJ45 plug located at the back of the command module. The other end of this RJ 45 cable will also have to
pass through the access portal hole X. Before fastening command module e to metal support plate k, make sure
that no tube or cable are stuck or bent between the command module's back and the metal support plate.
Please note that this last action must be observed throughout the entire installation procedure.
Fasten command module e to metal support plate k with the help of a 4 mm hexagonal flat tip screwdriver
and two CHC 5 x12 screws previously removed in page 11.
You may now complete your main power network connection; however make sure that the main power switch is

Before the filter modules can be installed, you must save the serial number of each filter module. Each filter module
has a number written on an RFID tag. This tag is affixed on the right of the filter module. The save procedure starts
when the LCD screen displays message 8 "No filters installed". This procedure can also be accessed by the
administrator using his access card. Simply follow the "No filters installed" procedure, the diagram for which is
shown on pages 22 and 24, by validating the administration menu (3), then filter (33) and finally total replacement
(332). The maximum number of filters to be saved is determined during configuration according to the number of
filtration columns the gfht has.

N.B. there is a difference between the maximum number of filter modules to be saved and the total number of filters
saved depending on the gfht model and the type of filtration, 2C, 1P2C or 2C1P. This does not have any effect as
long as the number of filter modules saved is the same as the number of filter modules to be saved, according to the
gfht model and the type of filtration, 2C or 1P2C. When message 3323, phase 4 of the total replacement menu
Record new filter tags, is displayed it indicates the maximum number of filter modules to be saved (16 in the
example below). Swipe the RFID tag for each filter module in front of the RFID reader as shown in the diagram on
page 17. The screen displays message 3324 "Filter added" and indicates the number of filter modules saved since
the start of the save procedure (3 in the example below). Do not validate message 3324 until the filter modules have
been saved.
<CANCEL> / <ENTER>
N.B. when the numbers of the filter modules are saved, the filter expiry date is also saved along with its number. This
date is 36 months after the shipping date. If this date is past when the filter module is saved, message 3323C "Expiry
date is over (ignoring filter)" is displayed and the filter module is not saved. It is not possible to save the same filter
module twice. In this case, message 3323B "Filter already in data base" is displayed.

After installing all the filtration column components, the position of the filter modules in the filtration column must
be recorded. The purpose of this operation is to know the position of the filter modules for partial replacements. The
filter modules located under the fan modules s are in the main filter positions. Detach and discard the "UP" labels
which are affixed on the right of the filter module and tick the "DOWN" label, as shown in the diagram below. The
filter modules located on the fan modules s are in the security filter position. Tick the "UP" label without detaching
the "DOWN" label as shown in the figure below. Several important operations need to be carried out at the same
time. Connect the air sampling tubes ibetween the fan modules s and form curves between each module. Guide
all the connection cables correctly between the fan modules and the lighting modules, forming curves between
each module. Also guide the and connection cables from the control module to the fan module P1.

Alarms management
General points
R
The overview of the overall functions manages several alarms. All the alarms managed are described in this chapter
with details of the conditions triggering them and the actions associated with them.
1 - Triggering an alarm
! When any alarm is triggered this leads to one of the following visual and audible alarms:
! The red LED or yellow LED comes on (fixed or flashing).
! A continuous or beeping sound is generated by the buzzer while the alarm is active; this can be stopped if
the alarm can be cleared.
! A message appears on the screen with information regarding the alarm.
! The alarm information is logged.
2 - Clearable alarms
Some alarms can be cleared by the user, who can stop them by pressing the "Cancel" key:
! The buzzer stops (unless another alarm is active).
! The status of the yellow and red LEDs remains unchanged.
! The alarm message displayed on the screen is not deleted.
3 - Stopping an alarm
! An alarm remains active whilst the alarm condition is still present.
! If the alarm condition disappears, the alarm also disappears.
! The buzzer stops (unless another alarm is active).
! The orange and red LEDs switch off (unless another alarm is active).
! The alarm message disappears from the screen (unless another alarm is activated).
4 - Specific cases
! To use this device, insert a valid user card: if an authorized card is not inserted within approximately 3
seconds, the alarm stops.
! Check the saturation of your filters: this alarm must be acknowledged in order to stop it.
5 - Alarm code
There are several types of "standard" alarms in the man machine interface, i.e. the association between the
behaviour of an LED alarm (yellow or red) which can be fixed or flashing and a sound produced by the buzzer which
can be continuous or beeping.
The following Alarm Codes are defined (in order from the least to the most critical):
If several alarms are triggered simultaneously: The most critical alarm code prevails, together with the messag
associated with it on the screen. If the level of criticality is the same, the most recent alarm prevails.
However, there are exceptions to this rule (Removal of the access card while the hood is in use and filter
approaching end of life (timer) alarms).

1 - Language
This function can be modified from menu 31 "Language" on page 39. The system has a choice of 6 languages
(French, English, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch). Once you have selected your language, save your choice. All
the messages will appear in the selected language.
This function is used to set the time between the request for the fan to be stopped and when it actually stops. This
time can be configured from message 38 Setting the time delay in the administration menu. This time can be set to
between zero and six hundred seconds. This additional ventilation time allows the evacuation of any vapors
remaining in the working enclosure after the handling operation corresponding to the request for the fan to be
stopped has ended. The procedure is shown in a diagram on page 53.
Two cases:
The two time delay settings for the fan to actually stop can be equal or different.
A - The stopping time can be set from message 381 "Card". This will lead to the fan currently operating to be
automatically stopped when the access card is removed from the RFID reader. After this authorized access card
is removed, the yellow LED flashes and message 8D "Reinsert card. Emergency stop in 00:XX" appears on the
LCD screen. If your handling operation is in progress, you must reinsert an authorized access card into the
RFID reader before the time delay is up and return to message 8B "handling operation in progress" and the
yellow LED goes out.
B - The stopping time can be set from message 382 "Manual". This will lead to the fan currently operating to be
switched off after a set time when the fan on/off key is pressed. When the fan on/off key is pressed, the yellow
LED flashes and message 8E "Stopping in progress 00:XX" appears on the LCD screen. If you press on the fan
On/Off key again before the set time is up, message 8E is replaced by message 8B "handling operation in
progress" and the yellow LED goes off.
The two time delay settings for the fan to actually stop can be different.
C - Operating in open mode: the "Card" and "Manual" time delays are both active.
D - Operating in secure mode: Only the "Manual" time delay is active after validating message 39A "Stop fan".

This administration menu is authorized for an operator with a "Maintenance" access card or an "Administration"
access card. In this chapter we will describe the section concerning alarm thresholds, the authorization to clear
certain alarms and door opening calibration; The Alarms and sensors menu 34 can be accessed from the
Administration screen 3 or 3A above, depending on the operating mode previously selected. You will find
diagrams of these settings procedures on pages 42 to 45. You must set all the fan parameters with the fan off. If not
the configured values will not be integrated.
1 - Maintenance Alarm
This function is used to integrate operating cycle time for the "gfht" from message 34 "Alarms and sensors page
42. This cycle time ensures that the system conforms to certain standards such as French standard NF X15211
which introduces this concept of time to check the condition of the filters after every sixty hours of operation. This
time can be set to between 1 and 2,000 hours. If you are not governed by any particular standard, simply enter a time
of 2,000 hours. At the end of this cycle time, a level 2 visual and audible alarm will be triggered. Message 3412 "Press
<ENTER> to mute current alarm sound" will be displayed on the screen. This alarm can be cleared by following the
procedure on page 32 which launches a new operating cycle time.
2 - Desactivation rights
Certain alarms can be cleared by the operator. The administrator authorizes whether or not these alarms can be
cleared by pressing on the Cancel key. In this case, the audible alarm is switched off (unless another alarm is
active), the red and yellow LEDs remain unchanged. One of the following alarm messages displayed on the LCD
screen is not deleted:
" Filter at the end of its lifetime (solvent sensor)"
" Filter at the end of its lifetime (acid sensor)"
" Check the saturation of your filters
" Abnormal temperature in the working area. Call the maintenance agent
3 - Solvent tigger
This setting corresponds to the solvent detector alarm threshold, i.e. the detection sensitivity setting. This
threshold is determined according to the detectable chemical products being handled. The default value is 2,000.
This value can be set to between 100 and 2,000 from screen 443 Solvent trigger value. The three settings
procedures possible are described on pages 44 and 45.
a - The value provided by the supplier is entered from screen 3431 "Value". The threshold value is the result of
an analysis of the handling operations and the chemical products handled within the "gfht" enclosure. An "LP
report" is prepared based on this analysis, giving the solvent sensor threshold alarm.
40
Administration Menu
Alarms and Sensors
R
The handling operations and chemical products to be handled in the gfht enclosure have not been analyzed and
an LP report giving this solvent detector alarm threshold has not been prepared. This threshold can be determined
by selecting the chemical products detected and handled by their CAS(1 ) numbers or from a list of names of
detectable chemical products.
b - By selection of message 3432 "CAS number" then entering and validating the CAS number using the multi-
function keyboard. Renew this operation by entering and validating all the CAS numbers corresponding to the
chemical products detected and handled. After each CAS number validation, message 3432A appears on the
screen Add CAS number --------'name of product. The name of the product is exact, you simply need to
validate the message to enter the name of the chemical product into the list of products handled. If not, cancel
the operation to return to screen 343 Solvent trigger value" and start the operation again. If the number entered
is erroneous or does not belong to the list of detectable products, message 3432B "This CAS number is
unknown" appears. To assist you, the procedure is shown in a diagram on page 45.
c - By selecting message 3433 "Molecular list" then entering and validating the name of the product handled
using the multi-function keyboard. Renew this operation by selecting and validating the names of all the
chemical products handled. After the validation of each name, message 3433A appears on the screen "Add
'name of product' CAS number - - - ". If a mistake is made with selection, cancel the operation to return to screen
343 Solvent trigger value" and start the operation again. To assist you, the procedure is shown in a diagram on
page 45.

When an access card is read by the RFID reader, the following actions are executed:
The central processing unit checks whether it is an "Administrator" or a "Maintenance" access card.
Both types of card are master cards and are not linked to a specific gfht whereas a User card is
linked to a specific gfht.
" If the access card inserted is not an Administrator or a Maintenance" card, the CPU searches in

the user data base to check if the ID for the inserted card is recognized. The number of authorized
users is limited to 16 per "gfht".

" If the user is not authorized, he cannot use the gfht and any attempt to start/stop the fan or
lighting will trigger a visual and audible alarm.
" If the user is authorized and switches on the fan, he must not remove his card until he has switched
off the fan. If he does, a visual and audible alarm will be triggered, the LCD screen will display the
message Reinsert card. Emergency stop in mm:ss. This alarm will remain active until the user
reinserts his access card.
" If the access card is not reinserted before the end of the programmed time delay
(Administration Menu setting delay"), the machine will automatically switch to Standby
and the lighting and fan will switch off.
" If the user removes his card with the fan stopped and the lighting on, the lighting will switch off.
" The procedures can be executed by the holder of an "Administrator" or "Maintenance" authorized
access card.
" The procedures are described in the Administration Menu User Management diagram, section
1, page 48.
" In order to save these procedures, they must be performed with the gfht in standby and the fan off.

Packet-switching computer network using the physical layer and the MediumAccess Control sub-layer of the OSI model. The Ethernet protocol is classed in the link layer,
as the format of the frames that the standard supports is standardized and can also be encapsulated in other protocols than the MAC and PHY physical layers.
(2)
All the machines connected to Internet have an address composed of four numbers separated by a full stop. Compulsory to access a server and navigate on the network.

Forward
REMINDER: the numbers of the filter modules are saved with an expiry date. This date is 36 months as from the
date of shipping. If the expiry date is passed when the filter module is saved, the screen displays message 3337A
Expiry date is over (ignoring filter)". In this case the filter module is not saved. The same filter module cannot be
saved twice. In this case, the screen displays message 3337B "Filter already in data base".
IMPORTANT
Do not start the procedure for partial replacement of a filter module without checking the expiry date for all the filter
modules already installed. This can save you performing the operations described in this chapter. It is important
that this date allows the reusable filter modules to be used in compliance with the LP report which gives the
estimated lifetime in days according to the chemical products used and the handling operations performed. It is
obvious that you must determine the remaining time before the expiry date according to the "LP report. Depending
on the result, you can then either start the partial replacement procedure or execute a total replacement of the filter
modules (see on pages 26 to 33). All the security filter modules reused as main filter modules according to the
"Revolving system" must have expiry dates which are very close together.

This simple concept involves placing a chamber fitted with a molecular sampling system between two filter modules
of the same capacity. When the main filter module is saturated, the molecules are sent directly to an identical filter
module called the security module which is located just above the detection chamber. This system prevents any
molecules being released outside the hood as they are absorbed by this security filter module. The security filter
module replaces the main filter module when the latter is saturated. A new filter module is then installed instead of
the security filter module. This cycle can be repeated indefinitely. In comparison to traditional filtration systems, the
revolving filter concept increases the filter retention capacity by 25% and therefore saves 50% of the renewal
costs.
I - Triggering factors
A - Pre-alarms
The gfht is fitted as standard with acid and solvent detectors which continuously check the saturation of
the main filter modules. These clearable visual and audible alarms warn the user when the detection
thresholds are exceeded for a time greater than that entered during configuration. The LCD screen displays
one of the messages below permanently. These messages warn that a partial replacement of the main filter
modules installed is imminent.
J M
[Alarm] [Alarm]
B -The alarms
As soon as the acid or solvent thresholds are permanently exceeded, a permanent visual and audible alarm
is emitted. The LCD displays one of the messages below. They trigger replacement of the main filter
modules fitted to the filtration columns currently installed.

II - Partial replacement
A - The procedure
This procedure allows partial filter module replacement or total replacement or modification of the type of
filtration column (e.g. switch from a 2C to a 1P1C filtration column or vice versa). In all cases, it is the
number of fan modules which determines the total number of filter modules. Select "Filters" 3 in the
administration menu then "Partial replacement" 33. Then simply follow and execute the actions require at
each step according to the messages which appear on the LCD screen. The whole procedure is shown as a
diagram on pages 64 and 65.

C - Used HEPA H14 filter modules
Step 4 involves deleting the numbers of the old HEPAH14 filter modules which were stored during
installation. It is not necessary to change these HEPA filter modules for each partial replacement. If the air
speed on the front of the enclosure is no longer maintained, this may be caused by increased HEPA filter
module pressure drop. In this case the HEPA filter modules must be replaced. To avoid errors, after
removing all the filter modules from the filtration columns we advise you to group together the used HEPA
filter modules before scanning them with the RFID reader. You must also scan all the RFID tags located on
the right side of each old HEPA filter module with the RFID reader from message 3334 "Scan the old filters".
The same used filter module cannot be scanned twice by the RFID reader. In this case, the filter module is
not counted and error message 3335 "Old filter already scanned (filter ignored)" is displayed on the LCD
screen.
