What Is the APO?
Established in 1961, the APO is
a regional intergovernmental
organization with a mission to
contribute to the sustainable
socioeconomic development
of Asia and the Pacific through
enhancing productivity.

The APO is nonpolitical,


nonprofit, and
nondiscriminatory.

What is public sector productivity?
Dimensions of Public-sector Productivity
Doing more with less
More outputs with same or fewer resources
Same amount of outputs with better quality using fewer resources
A large gain in quantity and/or quality of outputs through a
smaller increase in resources
Efficient use of taxpayers money in providing public services
Producing quality outputs
A productive organization is one that turns out a high level of good
quality outputs (policy or service) with its resources
Restoring public trust
The productivity field provides the means of improvement and
restoration of confidence in the government by giving the public
its moneys worth
Good governance
Productivity is a means of enhancing effectiveness of the public
sector in creating a conducive environment to increase
productivity in private sector production and in generating greater

Productivity (COE on PSP)

57th Session of the Governing Body in Bangkok, Thailand, in


April 2015 approved the establishment of the APO COE on PSP
under the auspice of the DAP.
.
The COE aims to support the APO in the promotion and
enhancement of productivity among public-sector
organizations in member economies.

Why Results-based Monitoring and Evaluation?

RBM is one of the effective tools that can be applied to


achieve quantum leaps in the productivity of these public-
sector organizations.
RBM can lead to enhancing the quality of services, increasing
stakeholder satisfaction, and improving the overall cost-
effectiveness and transparency of service organizations.
