The bar chart compares data about the using of four different types of
transportation namely bus, car, bike and foot to travel to and from work in a
European city from 1960 to 2000. Overall, there were very high
percentages of people who travelled on foot in 1960 and by cars in 2000.

In 1960, walking accounted for the highest proportion as a method of

transport of total travellers with 34%. Travelling by bikes was the second
most popular choice of people with nearly 25% of travellers. Third came
buses with 18% of total choices, triple as high as that in of cars, at about
6%. In 1980, there was not much different difference of in the percentages
of travellers among bus, car, bike and foot mode with 26%, 23%, 20% and
17%, respectively.

In 2000, 36% of travellers chose cars for their travels, about more than
double the number of travellers who travelled by buses with 16%, and four
times as high as that by walking with 9%. There was a downward trend of
travellers in using bikes from 1960 to 2000, with a steady decrease from
25% in 1960 to 6% in 2000, a fall of 19%.
