Dear Dean Banks,

I am writing to inform you of my interest in the Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Program at Texas A&M University. I have submitted my application with applicable
documentation.
Currently, I am a sophomore at Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in Houston Texas. So far, I hold
a GPA of 4.42. While attending Lamar, I participated in the Engineering Design and Presentation
class, that allowed me to create higher-level designs individually and with a team of fellow
student engineers.

I developed an interest in engineering and technology in middle school, having spent my 6th-
10th grade years in the engineering program offered. During my time in the program, I learned a
great deal about engineering design and architectural drawing. This convinced me to apply to
go for the Mechanical Engineering program at Texas A&M. I feel that this program will allow me
to study many different subjects, including physics, construction, mathematics, and design.

In addition to my demonstrated skills in Engineering Design and Presentation, I have spent time
at colleges such as Rice University, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas, and
even Texas A&M participating in their engineering field days or contest to see if engineering is
what I really want to do for my career. During my time at those colleges, I studied how the soon
to be engineers work and how much fun they have, it interested me and caught my attention.

Given my education and experience, I am confident that I am an excellent fit for the Texas A&M
Mechanical Engineering program. I have researched the program and determined that the
coursework and research profile of the college are a strong match. If you have any further
