CONTENT OUTLINE:
My idea in order to fulfil Vogues 125th Year
special edition is to recreate iconic photographs
taken in the 1960s. I have chosen the 60s as I
believe it was an era made for fashion. Also due
to 60s being though of classic and classy I
believe, it fits Vogues selling point.

My section will consist of a cover page


and a double page spread to be dedicated
to the 1960s era and it will have factual
information regarding the photographs I
am recreating as well as the celebrities
who participated in them.
Target Audience:
Regarding my target audience I will be following Vogues traditional target audience of
18-34 year old Women. Although with my product I hope to catch the eye of an older
audience. I decided to follow this target audience as Vogues fashion and style applies to
this sort of age range and gender as well as their selling points that make them a unique
magazine appeal to women of this age bracket.
From the reference shown below, I have learnt that the majority of Vogues audience are
very into the latest trends and fashion as the website highlights factual information
regarding Vogue Readers spending habits. For example 57% of all readers buy clothes
once a month or often and 67% buy cosmetics and perfumes. This shows me that Vogue
influences people on their purchases, through this magazine article I would like to
influence people to come out of their comfort zones and celebrate the fantastic fashion
featured in the 60s.

MARKET RESEARCH:
Concerning my competitors, I am mostly up against magazines
such as Cosmopolitan and People Magazine. Cosmopolitan is a
very similar magazine however it is a lot more provocative in
comparison to Vogue. Using mature terminology 50% of
Cosmopolitans audience are aged between 18- 34 years old.
Having a similar target audience makes this a competing
magazine as we are both aiming to capture the attention of the
same age bracket, in order to ensure my magazine is more eye-
catching and appealing to this audience, I have created a unique
idea that has not been done before therefore, capturing a high
interest for the audience.
Cosmopolitan is fairly provocative which is one of their unique
selling points, however I am not aiming to follow this sort of
style as I am keen to keep to Vogues classy style and classic
black and white features which make it so well-known these
colours are also very popularly associate with Vogue Magazine.

Another main competitor is ELLE Magazine. ELLE follows a


similar style and narrative in comparison to Vogue and has a
cheaper price than Vogue. ELLE is a strict competitor as they
feature high-end celebrities that will capture the attention of
the current generation.
Elle magazine leans towards an audience aged 18-49. Them
having a wider audience age bracket is an issue as they already
have a larger audience than Vogue. Although the aim of my
product is to not only capture the attention of the current target
audience but maybe appeal to an older audience as well as the
traditional audience. I think it will appeal to the older audience
as it will feature fashion trends they make remember and may
have done themselves.
I think my product competes with these magazines as it is
original and has a very unique selling point as something like
this has never been done before.

Specialist:
I discovered Amanda Barbosa, a specialist makeup artist who would be willing to
participate in my product. She charges 180 for hair and make-up with the following
special offer of 60 per extra person. Overall, this would cost the production: 540.

However, I believe this is a lot of money to spend on make up and hair in regard to the
fact I have also discovered, Isabella Bull. Bull would be willing to participate in my
production for as low as 20 per person making the overall cost of make up 120 as well
as a hair stylists called Edie Pullen who chargers 25 per person costing 150 overall. The
total of these two specialists is 270 which is a lot cheaper in comparison to the Barbosa
who was mentioned beforehand.

Project Schedule:
INITIAL IDEAS

This idea concludes in me using famous photographs of famous idols


during the 1960s and recreating them to fit a present day image. I will
be inspired by the lighting and style of the images in order to create my
images. I will be fashioning the magazine into a cover image and double
page spread, which will include information regarding the fashion and
famous icons during the 60s period. This will featured as a special
edition of Vogue to celebrate 125 years of the iconic fashion magazine.
The reason I have chosen this idea is that I believe it is incredibly
possible to create this idea as well as create it at a professional
standard making it realistic to the audience.
This TV advert will be done in a style of brainwash propaganda. This is
to indicate to the audience how the war would have been advertised in
the 1940s in order to have an educational effect on its audience. This
video will feature men in the army and proposing why more people
should join the army. It will represent members of the army in a
glamorous way almost as if they have a better life than anyone it will
also represent how they are real men and will persuade others to
become more manly. I feel as if this idea would be more difficult to
create as I need to ensure that my audience is affected the way I plan
them to be. It would also cost more money regarding the production.
