Rules and Regulations:
Age Eligibility Those who are born on or before 01st January 1992 are eligible to participate. Age
proof is required. Certificate should be from the Panchayat/Municipality or corporation
obtained soon after birth. Players without the date of birth certificate will not be allowed
to participate. Other country passport holders shall not be allowed to participate in the
State Chess Championship.
Lodging & Free dormitory type of lodging will be provided in the college hostel.
Boarding: Please bring your own beddings. A sum of Rs.750/- (Rs. seven hundred and fifty only)
will be collected towards boarding charges from the participants for the entire
tournament. Kindly note that there is no hotel nearby.
Players will not be allowed to stay with parents of opposite gender in the hostel.
Registration of Participants at all TN State U-25 Chess Championship are required to register
Participants themselves with AICF by paying Rs.250/- as registration fee for the year 2017 - 2018,
with AICF: the players have to submit their Date of Birth Certificate copy and one passport size
photo along with the duly signed AICF players' Registration Form.
Registration of Participants at all TN State U-25 Chess Championship are required to register
Participants themselves with TNSCA by paying Rs. 150/- as registration fee for the year 2017 -
with TNSCA: 2018, the players have to submit their Date of Birth Certificate copy and one passport
size photo along with the duly signed TN players' Registration Form. Those who have
already paid, must show the proof.
Default time: Default time is 15 minutes. Players have to be at the boars within 15 minutes of the start
Rules: FIDE rules in force shall apply.
System of play: The Tournament shall be conducted on a nine rounds Swiss System.
Time Control: 90 minutes each plus 30 seconds increment from the move one.
Tie-break Direct encounter, Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz, Sonneborn Berger and number of wins
(forfeit included) tie-break rules will be applied. In case of tie, prizes will not be shared.
Chess Clocks: Each Association is requested to provide at least two chess clocks for every four
players.
Appeals An Appeals Committee comprising of three members and two reserves will be formed
Committee: at the managers meeting. All the members and reserves shall be from different districts.
No member of committee can vote on dispute in which a player from his own
district/states is involved and in such case(s), the reserve member takes his place. The
decision of the appeals committee is final and binding on all players concerned.
Tournament The tournament committee consisting of the General Secretary, TNSCA or his
Committee: representative, and representative from another district to be nominated by the TNSCA
shall decide on all emergency matters.
Protest: Protest, if any against the decision of the Chief arbiter shall be made in writing with a
protest fee of Rs.500/- within 15 minutes of the incident. The decisions of the appeals
committee shall be final and binding on all concerned. The protest fee is refundable one
if the protest is upheld.
Withdrawals: A player may withdraw from the tournament at any stage after informing the Chief
Arbiter in writing.
Arrears: The players belonging to Districts which are in arrears to TNSCA will not be allowed to
take part.
Rights of The TNSCA /VDCA/organizer reserve the right to admit / reject any entry without
Admission: assigning any reason thereof.
The TNSCA /TDCA/organizer reserve the rights of admission to the venue and lodging.
Age Limit: Complaints against suspected under-aged players could be made with a fee of Rs.1000/-
to the organizers before the end of the second round who shall medically verify the
players concerned.

Last date for receipt of entries: 29th April 2017 No entry will permitted after the last date.

8 Any player who has qualified to represent India in World /Asian Chess Championship. Subject to age
stipulation
9 Any player who remits the prescribed special entry fee: Rs.1000/-
10 TNSCA General Secretary can nominate one entry in each category.
11 Two players in each category approved by TNSCA will be permitted from areas where no district association
exists
12 The host Virudhunagar District Chess Association is entitled to field one additional entries in each category.
13 In case of odd entry Virudhunagar District Chess Association is entitled to add one more entry to make the
total number even.
14 In addition to the above the following districts can field additional one entry by virtue of their
players finishing in top four in the previous TN State U-25 Chess Championships held in 2015 at Coimbatore.

Aruppukottai: Aruppukottai is about 45 KMs from Madurai (towards Thoothukudi) and 18 KMs from
Virudhunagar. The college is situated about 4 KMs from Aruppukottai on the Thoothukudi highway.
Participants coming by train have to get down either at Virudhunagar or Madurai. Thiruchuli, is the birth
place of Sri. Ramana Maharishi (the most revered Indian saint of 20th century, which is about 15 KMs
from Aruppukottai.
