Subject: Recommendation for Alexandra Sasha Bordell

Ms. Bordell was directly responsible for developing and implementing our highly successful school-wide, Positive
Behavior Intervention & Supports (PBIS) program here at Fremont Elementary. She personally took the initiative to
attend state training on the model, and researched its effectiveness. Ms. Bordell also took the lead to orient and train
our teachers and staff on the PBIS model. After a year of using the PBIS model, we were able to reduce out-of-school
suspensions by amazing 80% over the previous 2015-2016 school year! Disciplinary referrals also dropped over 40%.
Ms. Bordells leadership helped the school achieve these amazing results by shifting our previous discipline strategy
toward our current PBIS program, supplemented with Response to Intervention (RTI) techniques that now allow us to
focus on the positives and approach negative incidents in a more constructive way.

I highly recommend Ms. Bordell for any educational opportunity within your school district. For the last three years, I
have been very acquainted with her teaching and professional abilities and experience. Ms. Bordell has taught 1st grade
with distinction and exceptional skills and talents for us at John C. Fremont Elementary. In addition to outstanding
professional performance as an educator, there are other rare traits that she possesses which make her exceptional:
Leadership As an instructional leader in the school Ms. Bordell is always looking for ways to improve student
achievement and coach teacher instruction;
Adept with People She consistently finds a common ground with others and earn the trust of her peers;
Able to Motivate Others She has a passion for excellence that is highly contagious. She enjoys what she does
and finds way to improve and make things better.
Fair and Consistent Ms. Bordell thinks her decisions through, documents her reasoning, and is prepared when
someone questions or disagrees with it;
Organized and Prepared Ms. Bordell has learned each day presents a unique set of challenges and being
organized and prepared is essential to meeting those challenges. She has learned how to effectively handle a
myriad of situations and deal with many variables;
Excellent Listener I have seen Ms. Bordell expertly handle angry or misbehaving students, disgruntled parents,
and upset teachers. She is prepared to deal with these and similar situations because of her superb talent of
being an exceptional listener. Ms. Bordell can disarm difficult situations simply by showing others that she cares
enough to listen to what they want to say;
Visionary Ms. Bordell knows education is ever evolving. There is always something bigger and better available.
Ms. Bordell is on the crest of the wave of change in the effort to improve teacher instruction and student
learning. She knows this will always be an on-going process. We are so fortunate she was with us.
