GARMENT MANUFACTURING PROCESS

1) FABRIC INSPECTION

2) SAMPLING AND PATTERN MAKING

3) CUTTING

4) STITCHING

5) FINISHING

PRODUCTION LOSSES
Production losses on stitching floor is mainly
of two categories:
Un avoidable losses
Avoidable losses

UN AVOIDABLE LOSSES
Those losses which cant be eliminated but can be
Controlled and reduced.
Machine set up time.
Material handling.
Personnel fatigue time.
Inspection and instruction to operator.
Delay allowances like rethreading, bobbin
change, needle change etc

AVOIDABLE LOSSES
Those losses which can easily be eliminated
or minimized.
Response time for system balancing.
Poor floor planning.
Reduction in size of bottleneck operation.
Frequent machine breakdown.
Excessive material handling.
low speed, extensive breaks

TOOLS OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING

OPERATION STUDY:
Research and analysis for timing and method
for any operation.

MOTION STUDY:
Study of every body movement of
operator while performing any particular
operation so that useless activity can be
avoided and time can be efficiently used for
any operation

LAYOUT:
Most effective arrangement of plant,
machinery, equipment and
material for minimization of handling and
distribution time for higher output.

TIME STUDY:
Research for actual time for executing any
particular operation or process

MODERN EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY

UTILIZATION:
Research for latest technology for executing an
operation with better cost effectiveness and
quality competitiveness.

PROCESS STUDY :
Analysis for flow of work of any new product
according to the space layout, machinery
available and material flow

SYNCHRONIZATION
Study for allotment of equal time of work to
every operator involved for better production
line balancing and smooth flow of work.

WORK STUDY
When the actual output is less than the
planned output then its important do a
case
study and try to find out the reason and
solution so that the desired output
comes
out from sewing line.
MAIN TOOLS OF WORK STUDY
LINE BALANCING
Sewing line must be evaluated after studying
time and work balancing of each operator.
imbalances could be observed because of the
different levels of efficiency of different
operators then after evaluation a new plan
must be made for the smooth flow of work.

METHOD IMPROVEMENT:
For any bottleneck operation a new better
method must be found out for assisting or
helping the operator.

TRAINED AND MOTIVATED EMPLOYEE:

For higher productivity trained and motivated
employees are an important tool.
