PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Introduction

The beginnings of the Egyptian cement industry lie in the 20th century. Since the
founding of the Tourah Portland Cement Company in 1927, Egypt's cement
industry has shown steady growth. But also the view on the future development
shows that a huge expansion can be expected. Over the next three years, new
production lines and expansion projects will create new capacities to meet
growing consumption on the domestic market. It is estimated that about 16
million tonnes of clinker are additionally produced, which increases the projected
capacity to 54.8 million tonnes of clinker. In the case of cement, an additional
planned capacity of around 18 million tonnes is expected, which will be increased
from 46.6 million tonnes in 2008 to around 61.8 million tonnes in 2010. Egypt
became one of the main exporting countries. Exports reached their peak in 2004
with 12.1 million tonnes of cement.

Its location was selected to be in Ain El-soukhna area since this area is engaged
by a decent infrastructure where many industries decided to drive there, where
the availability of the raw materials like limestone, its clay, sources of electricity
and water availability and of course the accessibility of transportation before
manufacturing and during exporting.
This project is to produce one and half million metric tonnes of cement per
annum with a total cost of 20 million EGP that to be funded 75% by the private
sector and 25% by the government, ministry of electricity and energy. This plant
will help in employment of more than 650 employee in 2 years from now.
2.1. Scope of the Project
The scope of the project involves mining and transportation of raw material,
cement production (3000 tons per day) along with plantation work and
infrastructure development with construction work. The details include the
following:
Mining operation (drilling, hauling/transportation, blasting, crushing activities
among others);
For conveying crushed limestone and additives; and construction of mine
access roads;
Infrastructural developments- construction of roads, health care center,
recreation center, office buildings and development of ground water well .
Internal roads construction, development of green area and plantation of tree.
Cement processing (calcining the raw materials in kiln, cooling the resulting
clinker, mixing the clinker with gypsum and milling, bagging and storing the
finished product )
Construction of cement processing unit like clinkerization kiln, cement silos,
clinker silo, cement and raw mill houses and the like,
Installation of dust recycling and capturing device
