Lewis Allen
Director of Environments, Portland Design
With a background in branding and design, Lewis Allen has 28 years of
experience in roles including company director, brand strategist, creative
director and project designer.

Lewis leads projects to define brand strategy, to create customer


propositions and to design customer experiences across multiple
touchpoints. He crafts brand experiences using a future-ready perspective
combined with a customer-centric focus.

His immersion across many sectors and continents enables Lewis to inspire
clients and creative colleagues alike with fresh thinking and enriching
insight. His experience delivering complex projects requiring multi-disciplinary skills and strong
team collaboration means that Lewis has a robust understanding of how to direct projects from
creative exploration through to commercially sustainable reality.

Rafidah Aziz
Former Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry
Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz is one of South East Asia's most dynamic and
respected politicians, and is regarded as an authority on global trade. She
is Malaysias longest serving Minister of International Trade and Industry,
having been in the position for 21 years from 1987-2008.

During her tenure as the Minister of International Trade and Industry, she
contributed significantly to the development of Malaysias economy, and
worked tirelessly to position and to promote Malaysia as the most favoured
destination for foreign direct investment.

Under her leadership, many multi-national corporations such as Intel,


Western Digital, Panasonic, Samsung set up manufacturing, research and development facilities in
Malaysia. The country is now the 20th largest trading nation in the world and the largest exporter
of semi-conductors. On the domestic front, she strived to create opportunities for local enterprises
to excel in their markets. Trade agencies such as SMIDEC, now known as SME Corp and Matrade,
were set up. The establishment of SMIDEC was in recognition of the need for a specialised agency
to further promote the development of small and medium industries (SMIs) in the manufacturing
sector through the provision of advisory services, financial assistance, infrastructural facilities,
market access and other support programmes.

Through her concerted efforts and passion in promoting Malaysia's trade, many businesses have
emerged from small medium enterprises to become large corporations with offices around the
world. The local media dubbed her as 'Rapid Fire Rafidah' for her forthright opinions and wit. Her
expertise, visionary outlook and confidence have been a source of inspiration to many
entrepreneurs in Malaysia and beyond. Known as the Iron Lady from Kuala Kangsar, she is in her
element when it comes to tackling trade negotiations or promoting the attributes of Brand
Malaysia.

She continues to monitor international trade and investments as patron of the Malaysia-Europe
Forum and as the Chairman of the fast growing airline AirAsia X.

Andrea Belardini
CEO, Asia, Middle East and Africa, Dufry
Andrea Belardini joined Dufry following the companys acquisition of Nuance, and was appointed
CEO for Asia, Middle East and Africa in January 2016.

In July 2009, he was appointed CEO for Nuances European operations and
took the role of Global Chief Commercial Officer in 2013, in addition to his
regional CEO role. During his tenure, Andrea delivered a significant
improvement in profitability and acted as key driver for the company
innovation agenda. He oversaw a multi-million CHF investment in Nuances
European operations, incorporating the refurbishment and development of
more than 10,000 square metres of retail space. He led the conception and
delivery of the Duty Free Store concept, setting a benchmark for Nuances
core category operations, as well the launch of new formats and brands in
Specialty categories.

Prior to joining Nuance, Andrea spent nine years at Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), initially as EVP
Strategy and Development, later taking the role of EVP Commercial Business. In his tenure the
commercial business of ADR went through a major transformation, with significant improvement in
EBITDA and customer satisfaction.

Andrea has also worked for the Accor Groups Carlson Wagonlit Travel division with a number of
different roles including Controlling, Head of Reengineering and VP Operations Southern Europe.

Andrea graduated with Honours (Magna cum Laude) in Business and Economics from the
University of Rome La Sapienza, where he also held lectures after graduation.

Andrea is married with three children. He enjoys sports including tennis, skiing, kitesurf, cycling
and running, and is also a keen photographer.

Sarah Branquinho
President, ETRC & External Affairs Director & Head of
Communication Europe & Africa, DUFRY
Sarah Branquinho is an active advocate for the duty-free and travel retail
industry, andthe key dual role it plays in enhancing transport infrastructure
and the passenger experience. She is President of the European Travel
Retail Confederation, the representative organisation for the duty free and
travel retail industry in Europe, Chair of the UK Travel Retail Forum and a
member of the Board of the Duty Free World Council. Sarah was also
recently elected to the ACI World Business Partners Advisory Board.

With thirty years of experience in the duty free industry at TFWA, then
managing the consumer mobilisation programme and the ambitious research projects which
underpinned the lobby to save intra-EU duty free, Sarah joined BAA and its retail company World
Duty Free where her remit for business relationships and external affairs grew with the company.
With World Duty Frees recent acquisition by Dufry AG, the overall business now accounts for one
in every four travel retail sales worldwide.

Charn Cheng (CC) Lee


Chief Operating Officer
China Duty Free Group
Charn Cheng Lee, known by many in the industry as CC, is a seasoned
retail professional with a wealth of experience in travel retail. He spent 26
years with DFS, serving as Managing Director in Singapore and
subsequently Managing Director for Australia. He left DFS to join Valiram
Group as Country Manager for Singapore.

Prior to joining China Duty Free Group (CDFG) his most recent position was
CEO for Lagardre Travel Retail responsible for Singapore, Malaysia and
overseeing business developments in Hong Kong. He was appointed as
COO of CDFG on December 1 2016.

Dr. Jennifer Cords


Head of Corporate Affairs and Compliance (Global Travel Retail),
Imperial Brands
Board Member, Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association
A graduate of Political Science from Nijmegen (Netherlands), Mnster
(Germany) and Princeton (USA), Dr Jennifer Cords has over 10 years of
experience in campaigning, communication, public and corporate affairs.
Early in her career she worked as a lobbyist for German small and medium-
sized enterprises in Hannover, Berlin and Brussels, including a government-
led Invest in Germany promotional tour of the US and Canada, working
with embassies and the Goethe Institute.

In 2010 she joined Imperial Brands, the fourth-biggest tobacco company in the world, becoming a
key member of Imperials duty free management team. She is an expert on regulations in all
designated duty free areas such as airports, border stores, military, airlines, diplomatic stores,
ferries and cruises. Imperials Duty Free team operates from offices in Bristol, Hamburg, Fort
Lauderdale, Hong Kong and Athens.

Jennifer is an active member of several trade associations on behalf of Imperial Brands, and is a
Board Member of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association and a Management Committee member
of TFWA.

Jennifer lives in Hamburg and has two young daughters aged four and one.

Porter Erisman
Entrepreneur and former Vice President of Alibaba Group
Porter Erisman is an entrepreneur, e-commerce consultant and award-
winning filmmaker with more than 20 years of experience in China.

From 2000-2008, he served as Vice President at Alibaba Group as the


company grew from a start-up in founder Jack Mas apartment into the
worlds largest e-commerce company. Based in China, Porter at various
times headed Alibabas international marketing, website operations and
corporate affairs.

After leaving Alibaba, Porter produced and directed Crocodile in the


Yangtze, an independent documentary film about his experience inside the
company. The film screened at twenty film festivals worldwide garnering several awards, including
Best Documentary at the San Francisco United Film Festival and Best Film on Entrepreneurship at
the Silicon Valley Film Festival.

Porter has spoken at conferences around the world and has been featured in leading media,
including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Bloomberg, NPR and the BBC. He is also
the author of Alibabas World: How a Remarkable Chinese Company is Changing the Face of Global
Business.

Since leaving Alibaba, Porter has remained involved in start-ups in developing countries,
consulting to e-commerce companies in India, Nigeria, China and Vietnam.

Kian Gould
Founder and CEO, AOE
Kian Gould is the CEO and Founder of AOE, and one of the leading global
omnichannel e-commerce and digital transformation experts within the
Open Source space. He is a regular speaker at many global conferences,
and a well-known expert in airport digitalization. For the past 15 years, his
company AOE has assisted Fortune 1000 companies with their Digital
Transformation and Omnichannel e-commerce strategies.

AOE and its global team of over 250 people in 5 countries is a leading
provider for Digital Transformation and Omnichannel e-commerce
implementations based on Enterprise Open Source technologies. It has
established a reputation as a leading provider for airport e-commerce solutions, and is responsible
for the world's leading Omnichannel Travel e-commerce platform at Frankfurt Airport.

With its headquarters in Frankfurt and offices in San Francisco, Zurich, Dubai and Hong Kong, AOE
has handled hundreds of implementations for major global corporations, including Frankfurt
Airport, Lufthansa, Cisco Systems, Deutsche Telekom, Bosch, Sony and Commerzbank.

Anil K. Gupta
Author and Professor in Strategy and Globalization at the Smith
School of Business, University of Maryland
Professor Anil K. Gupta is the Michael Dingman Chair and Professor in
Strategy and Globalization at the Smith School of Business, The University
of Maryland at College Park. He earned a PhD from Harvard University, an
MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, and a BTech from the Indian
Institute of Technology. He has also served as a Chaired Professor at
INSEAD and as a Visiting Professor at Stanford University, Dartmouth
College, and Tsinghua University (China).

Dr Gupta is widely regarded as one of the worlds leading experts on


strategy and globalization. Ranked by Thinkers50 as one of the worlds most influential living
management thinkers, he has been named by The Economist as one of the world's "superstars" in
a cover story on Innovation in Emerging Economies. He is the author of several acclaimed books
including The Quest for Global Dominance, Getting China and India Right and The Silk Road
Rediscovered, as well as over 70 highly cited papers in academic journals. He also serves as an
active keynote speaker, adviser and/or board member for a number of Global Fortune 500
companies as well as venture capital backed technology ventures and accelerators in the US,
China and India.

Dr Gupta is a member of the World Economic Forums Stewardship Committee for the Initiative on
the Future of Consumption, as well as The Bretton Woods Committee set up by the World Bank
and IMF to advise them on solutions to global challenges. He has been a regular participant at the
World Economic Forums annual summit in Davos and the regional summits in China, India, and
the Middle East. He is one of only 3 professors in the world to have been elected by his peers as a

Lifetime Fellow of the three most prestigious bodies in the field Academy of Management,

membership of over 25,000 scholars worldwide.

Dr Gupta writes regularly for the Harvard Business Review as well as op-eds and columns for The
Wall Street Journal and Chief Executive Magazine and is a frequent guest on top-tier media such
as CNBC, Bloomberg TV and CCTV.

Hideki Hayashida
Senior Vice President
Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA)
Hideki Hayashida is the Senior Vice President of Narita International Airport
Corporation (NAA) and the Executive Divisional Director of the companys
Marketing Division. In his 40-year career at NAA, he has played a vital role
in the operation of the airport, where he is currently in charge of almost
every revenue sector including retailing, passenger terminal management,
cargo and the aviation fuelling business.

Through the recent amendment of landing charges, which form one of the
main tiers of aeronautical revenue, Mr. Hayashida has built strong
partnerships with the airlines that operate at Narita Airport. In 2007, acknowledging the increasing
importance of non-aeronautical revenue to Narita, he spearheaded the development of the duty-
free and fashion mall in Terminal 2, also known as Narita 5th Avenue. This shopping area has
created a sophisticated and luxurious environment that has been the benchmark for all retail
development projects at Narita Airport until today. In 2015, under his leadership, the Narita Dining
Terrace was launched and expanded Narita 5th Avenue with six Japanese restaurants. The
creation of further new shops is also under way.

Mr. Hayashidas leadership goes beyond the realms of the airport and he is a firm believer in
corporate social responsibility. He is actively involved in maintaining good relations with the local
community.

Olivier Jager
Co-founder & CEO, ForwardKeys
Olivier Jager is a seasoned travel technology entrepreneur. He launched
ForwardKeys in 2010 and drives the companys vision, strategy and growth
as it provides solutions for companies operating in the travel ecosystem to
better anticipate future demand by knowing who is travelling tomorrow.

Before launching ForwardKeys, Olivier built his knowledge with companies


including AOL, Amadeus, PhoCusWright, Market Metrix and TravelCLICK. As
a strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and solving problems,
Oliviers expertise has focused on marketing and distribution, management
and business development.

Olivier is a frequent speaker on the international circuit on subjects related to how travellers are
adapting their behaviour in a global and volatile marketplace.

Terna Jibo
Head of Strategic Insights, Portland Design
Terna Jibo is a highly-experienced research, cultural insight and trends
specialist, with over fifteen years experience of directing domestic and
international research, ethnographic and trend forecasting work for blue-
chip clients. With a background in journalism, academia, advertising, digital
marketing and design, Terna identifies and interprets trends and insight
and create strategies that help make the future happen for clients. His vast
research knowhow contributes to putting research and trends at the heart
of the consumer experiences and commercial strategies created by
Portland.

As the Head of Strategic Insights at Portland Design, Terna leads its standalone SIU (Strategic
Insights Unit), offering tailored consumer insights and trends research for the retail, travel and
leisure industries. Portland's SIU team are responsible for creating original, imaginative and usable
research that solves problems, accelerates great ideas and drives innovative design solutions for
brands, businesses and organisations worldwide. He has also written for a range of consumer,
industry and think-tank publications and has previously taught university courses on ethnography
and trend forecasting.

Erik Juul-Mortensen
President, Tax Free World Association
A founding member of TFWA and a member of its Management Committee since the inception of
the Association, Erik Juul-Mortensen served as Vice President from 1986 to 1997, before being
elected President in September 1999.

From 1987 to 1991 Erik was Vice President at Danish Distillers Ltd, in
charge of the export and duty free division. In 1991 his promotion to
Senior Vice President and Export Director followed, and in 1996 he was
named Senior Vice President and International Director.

Following the acquisition of Danish Distillers by Stockholm-based V&S


Group in December 1999, Erik transferred to V&S International Brands as
Senior Vice President and Commercial Director. In 2003 he was promoted
to President of V&S Absolut Global Duty Free, with responsibility for the
entire V&S portfolio in the global duty free market. In the same period he
also served as Managing Director of V&S Deutschland, the German
domestic market subsidiary of V&S Group. From 2005 to 2010 Erik served as President of
Maxxium Global Travel Retail, a highly successful division of Maxxium Worldwide which was a joint
venture between V&S Group, Remy-Cointreau, The Edrington Group and Beam Global Spirits &
Wine.

In addition to his responsibilities at TFWA, Erik is also Treasurer of the Duty Free World Council, a
member of the Supervisory and Managing Boards of the European Travel Retail Confederation and
a board member of the Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association and the Asia Pacific Travel Retail
Association.

Nobuo Nabika
President
The Ginza Co. Ltd
A recognized leader in the cosmetics and fragrance industry in Japan,
Nobuo Nabika is a veteran of one of Japans most successful skincare
brands, The Ginza, a subsidiary of the Shiseido Company. With his mantra
that customer satisfaction is of utmost importance, he has led The Ginza as
President since 2013. Under his tenure, The Ginza has expanded its
business by increasing its presence at major airports and downtown duty
free shops throughout Japans major cities.

Previously, he served as President of Ayura Co. Ltd, leading the companys


innovative marketing strategies and product development. He has enjoyed a long career within the
Shiseido Company, having joined in 1982 and fulfilled a number of roles in marketing and brand
management.

Tadashi Shimura
President
Japan Association of Travel Agents
Tadashi Shimura is currently the President of Japan Association of Travel
Agents. An energetic, respected and versatile leader in both the private
and public sector, Tadashi Shimura has helped bring about positive change
in Japans tourism industry. Prior to his role at JATA, he held numerous
executive positions with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and
Tourism where he oversaw key projects in air transport and civil aviation.
He also managed numerous planning and infrastructure developments
during his tenure with the Nara Prefectural Department and the Kinki
District Transport Bureau.

A graduate of Harvard University with a Master in Public Policy, Tadashi began his career with
Japans Ministry of Transport and later served as a diplomat through his appointment as First
Secretary for the Embassy of Japan in the Peoples Republic of China.

Jaya Singh
Global Sales Director, Mondelez World Travel Retail
President, Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association
A passionate believer in the potential of the global travel retail business,
Jaya Singh is currently the Region Director for the Middle East, Indian Sub-
Continent, Asia Pacific and Oceania World Travel Retail business at leading
confectionery company Mondelez International. Since 2013 he has served
as the President for the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA).

Jaya has experience in almost every region of the world, in both domestic
and travel retail environments. He previously served as Global Sales
Director for Kraft Foods World Travel Retail business, as it was formerly
known, and was also the Director for the Kraft Foods European Export business.

Prior to this Jaya ran his own business which focused on training and personal development. He is
a firm believer that the potential success of any organization and the realization of opportunities
lies in identifying, developing and unleashing the potential of people in the commercial
environments in which they operate. Carrying this credo from business to other domains, Jaya
does a lot of private work in his spare time helping people identify, release and realize their own
potential.

Isao Takashiro
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
JATCO
Isao Takashiro is Chairman and CEO of Japan Airport Terminal Co, Ltd
(JATCO), Japans biggest duty free and travel retailer company and
operator of Haneda Airport. Prior to assuming this position, he held
numerous executive roles in sales and general affairs within the company.

Under his leadership, JATCO embarked on off-airport downtown duty free


business in partnership with Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd and NAAR
Corporation with the opening of a downtown duty free shop in Tokyos
premium shopping district, Ginza, last January. JATCOs new initiative
sparked interest in off-airport downtown duty free business in Japan with its rapidly expanding
inbound traffic.

Over his distinguished career, Isao has received several awards from the Japanese government
including the Blue Ribbon Medal in 2011 and a special recognition from the Minister of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He is a graduate in economics from Aoyama Gakuin
University.

Nicola Wells
Global Strategy and Marketing Director, Aer Rianta International
Nicola Wells began her career on the graduate programme at Masterfoods
in the UK in 1995, fulfilling a number of field sales and regional
management roles. She joined Britvic in 1998, broadening her commercial
experience in a number of increasingly senior roles before moving into
consumer marketing in 2001, managing major household brands such as
Pepsi, 7-Up, Robinsons, Fruit Shoot and J20, before relocating to Ireland in
2007 with PepsiCo.

Prior to joining Aer Rianta Internationals parent company DAA in 2011,


Nicola was a member of the Senior Management Team of PepsiCo Ireland
Food & Beverage. She joined ARI in 2012 as Head of Global Customer Strategy and was appointed
Director of Global Customer Strategy and Marketing in 2013.
