Objectives:

Pre-stage I would like you guys to close your eyes, imagine what you would be
like when you are 70 years. What will you be like? Who will you be T-S 5
with? What will you be doing? S-S mins

--Students talk to each other in pairs in Mandarin, then come back to the
class as a whole
During-stage
I. Read an article about an old man talking about his life T-S 10
experience S-S mins

i. Go over the article. You will have 3 minutes to read

ii. What do you think about his life? Do you like it? Why or
why not?

II. Read for details
Read again, find answers to these questions

Has he been to lots of countries? What are they?

Has he been married? How many times?

Has he met lots of famous people? Who are they?

Do you think that he has had an interesting life? Why or why
not?

1. Underline the expressions with the word and the verb

Pre-stage Think about a job interview. What do people usually talk about during a

During-stage We know that when we are at job interviews, we will be asked to talk S-S 5mins
about our working experience. Now, lets listen to a conversation
between an interviewer and an interviewee. The engineer will be talking
about his working experience.

Listen to the conversation:
1. Listen for the general ideas.
What do you know about this engineer?
Listen again for details, and answer the questions
1. Read the statements carefully in NO.8 on page 85, predict the
answers

1. Use the prompts, write the interviewers questions in the correct

2. We have 20 statements here. You are asked to finish the sentence
based on your own experience. Write down 10 true and 10 false
sentences. For example, the first one, if I write

Share with your partner
1. Read your sentences to each other. Your partner must try to
figure out whether each sentence is true or not. S-S 10
