Reflection report

Name: Nor Hamizan Bin Mohd Taip

Before

We have been tasked to do an observation about non-verbal communication. The

topics that was given to us was paralanguage. We have learnt in class that
paralanguage is a message that is sent with your voice. Paralanguage is often it
is not what you say but how you say it determine the real meaning of spoken
words. In class we have learnt it theoritocally, but the observation for the
assignment has given us a chance to experience for to see and feel what
paralanguage really is. For this observation, we have dicussed and have agreed
to do the observation anyplace that are appropriate such as the university
campus, church and more. Each of us have done these observation on different
place, and time to widen the scale of observation which includes different
experience for each of us.

After

After doing the observation, we have realised that paralanguage happens in our
everyday life. It doesnt matter where you are it always happens wheter we
noticed it or not. Furthermore, we also have noticed that, a communication
without any paralanguage in any communication will make the message that
yyou are meant to deliver will make the receiver to misunderstood the message
that are delivered and may confuse the receiver. Besides that, this observation
teaches us the lesson that besides concentrating only on what a person says, we
must also keep our ears on the persons voice tune, pitch, volume, rate
articulation and pronounciation so that we can really receive what the message
sent really means.
