Replacing manual processes with automation for a financial firm

The Challenge

A major financial services firm had relied on large IT consulting

firms to manage a very mature offshoring operation; however, cheap labor did not equate to better customer experience. The large, heterogeneous technology environment [20,000+ devices, logical configurable items (CIs)] was dependent on human-driven manual processes, which lead to inefficient operations. The re-

sulting value erosion and maxed returns could be countered with,

at best, only incremental potential gains.

The Solution

To provide the firm with cost-effective and efficient services, the service provider is employing its automated technologies in the firm’s crucial trading platforms. The systems are providing checks

to ensure that trades and transactions are correctly completed.

Automated systems, the hallmark of the service model, resolve more than half of all client issues – and 90 percent of all Level 1

issues – without human intervention.

Before the solution was implemented, engineers manually tracked down failed trades in a huge infrastructure, with resulting 40 minute average resolution time. The provider introduced end- to-end replacement/automation of the task, which ensured less than two minute resolution time with no human intervention.

This delivered greatly enhanced trader productivity.
