I am Matthew M. Bernas, recently completed my 3rd year course in John B. Lascon Foundation Maritime
University Arevalo. Upon completing my academic requirements, I am now ready to test my skills in
the working field as a Deck Cadet. I am writing this letter to express my interest in your companys
search of outstanding delegates to be fine and trustworthy deck officers, which I had read in your
company magazine on our school. It seems that your company is offering the opportunities that suites
my interest. Committing myself in quality of work and service, I am confident that my credentials will

I completed my 3rd year BSMT course with high honors and was titled as Model Cadet of the Year.
These honors of mine can be attributed because of my hard work, discipline and diligence. Not just of
that but also to my passion and my dream of navigating and stirring the ship. I am serious at work,
careful and wise, as well as good at following orders and instructions. I also serve as a Corps
Commander of the C.A.T.(Citizen Army Training) at JBLFMU and Vice President of the Young Navigators
Association Iloilo Chapter. Both of these experiences honed my leadership and navigation skills
relevant for the job I am willing to take.
My experiences are not just from school, I also learned a lot from my father who is formerly a Chief
Engineer of the same company I am currently applying. Yes, he is the Chief Engineer of the ship by the
name Retriever of Swire Pacific Offshore for the past 10 years. The school taught me everything I
need to know about Maritime Industry but my dad shared his knowledge to me which made me love
my job that Im going to take.

I carry a commitment to excellence of work and a passion to deliver results that can contribute to the
company. For my passion of seafaring, I shall bring outstanding results of my services. I have attached
