Description of the Study

The Philippines has been regarded as a non-reading country and prefer watching
films than reading as it cater and spark their interest more. This study will try to
look at the factors that the film producers consider when deciding what to alter in
film adaptation of particular books in order to suit the audiences interest. There has
been a perceived dichotomy between filmmakers producing films to cater only the
popular taste of the masses and producing films for arts sake or rather, with more
substance. By this dichotomy, this study will delve further on how film producers
decide on whichever end of spectrum.
