If racial profiling is to continue in this nation meant to unite not divide, we the people will have let
down the most important right given to every citizen of this country-freedom. The aspects of
where we emanate from now has become a way of living in modern culture. Color of skin
matters more than who you are or what you have done. Our judgement taking control of
situations we can barely comprehend to be real as to what we feel is right ignoring how it may
be wrong. Our countrys people who were placed under a document created to make the rightful
agreement that all men are created equal, made over two hundred forty years ago from now
When recognizing the term racial profiling we tend to think of ethnicity, but ... the first things to
notice about what is termed racial profiling is that it is not so much racial, but rather color
profiling (Corlett). We notice more in the news of the difference between white and black
Americans who are being pulled over in cars or stopped on the sidewalk with the judgment
based on skin tone. Looking at the comparison between different racial labels while driving,
African American and Latino drivers are nearly twice as likely as white drivers to be asked
during a routine traffic stop for consent to have their car searched. Yet white motorists are 49%
more likely than African American motorists to have contraband discovered during a consent
search by law enforcement, and 56% more likely when compared to Latinos (Makarechi). To be
noticed by the appearance by color of skin labelling to a specific category under suspicious or
even troubling is not a valid reason. If they are indeed presenting an act against the law it is
agreeable as to why a police member can ask those involved to stop what they are doing or
even promote an arrest. However, if any member from another race is judged by their skin tone
that is not causing an illegal act, that is racial cruelty from thoughts judging before knowing.
Our rights as Americans state our legal rights for our freedom as citizens, however, ... the
history of race relations in the US, particularly between law enforcement and various ethnic
groups, is fraught with racist incidents (Corlett). Throughout history it can be seen that law
enforcement does indulge in ruthless acts against non-minorities when dealing with a suspect
for an illegal action, now recently has brought many to video recordings for proof against the
disagreement of how our nations protectors wont protect everyone. Yet visual evidence still
does not appeal to everyone for those in favor of the police retaliate they are just, doing their
job. In those for defense against law enforcement just doing their job, evidence of a significant
bias in the killing of unarmed black Americans relative to unarmed white Americans, in that the
probability of being black, unarmed, and shot by police is about 3.49 times the probability of
being white, unarmed, and shot by police on average (Makarechi). The issue seen by many is
the questionable actions of those who are to be protecting the country do not see the difference
between suspicious and dangerous. Law enforcement has been the main focus due to the
deaths of many African American lives including other ethnical groups in the United States. The
lives of many lost by walking along the street with a hood up, selling music on the corner of a
street, and even just walking down the street at nighttime in a neighborhood have been the
excuses for many police officers as to why our country now suffers the lost lives of fathers,
mothers, and children. The dangers of Walking While Black/Brown has now become a
nationwide dilemma for now, At least 70 departments scattered from Connecticut to California
arrested black people at a rate 10 times higher than people who are not black, (Heath). If our
police are to serve and protect the citizens of America, then they are to treat everyone the same
The vicious acts of racial profiling needs to cease. Not one race is better than the other, just as
not one man is perfect over everyone else. We are all different for no one is to be placed in a
higher position due to supremacy. If we cut our skin past the flesh, we all bleed the same color.
