AlongwiththelaunchofWindowsVistain2007,inordertoplayonthenetwork,usershadto
installtheIPX/SPXnetworkingsupportmanually.FollowingthelaunchofWindows7in2010,
IPX/SPXcouldnolongerbeinstalled,thereforRedAlert2couldnolongerbeplayedona
network.
Theproblemcaneasilybefixedusing"Scorpio9a'swinsock.dllIPXoverUDPwrapper".Just
downloadtheDLL(extractitfromarchiveifinazip)andplaceitinthegamedirectory.Dothe
sameforallthecomputersonthenetworkwhowishtoplay,andyou'llhaveyourselfanice
LANparty.
Scorpio9a'swinsock.dllwillalsoallowforoverinternetLANplay,throughserviceslikeTunngle
oryouveryownVPNserver.
Ididn'tincludeScorpio9a'swinsock.dllbecauseofpossiblecopyrightinfringement(Ihopethe
authorwillallowit,untilthen...).

protectionshavebeenovercome.Thereisnogoodreasonwhy

TCP/UDP/UDPBroadcastinsteadofIPXcouldhave
beenasolution.Youreasiestwayoutisreinstallingthe
game(patchtothelatestversion),andifthatdoesn't
work,andyourantivirus/firewalldoesn'tcausethe
gametocrashondisconnectfromnetwork,it'sreally
hardtotellwhatsoftwarecouldbecausingthecrash.
ReinstallWindows,installthegame,runit,ifitworks
finewhendisconnectingfromnetwork,thenstart
installingstuff(antivirus/firewall,othersoftware),and
betweeneachinstalltesttoseeifthebugappears.This
wayyoucanidentifytheconflict...
