All praise and glory be to God Almighty for his perfect control of all that was

involved from the beginning to the final stage of my Bachelor Degree programme. I

am grateful to God Almighty for guidance and protections throughout my studies

especially for keeping me safe and sound health.

This study would not be complete without acknowledging the efforts and

contributions of some notable individuals. I appreciate the effort of my able

Supervisor, in the person of Mal. I. A. Libata whose patients, guidance, and efforts

made this research a success and to the entire lecturers in the Department of Science

Education.

I also appreciate the efforts and contributions of my beloved parents through

the periods of my studies for their spiritual and financial support, and to my relatives,

classmates who have in one way or the other contributed to the success of this work.

My profound gratitude my beloved wife Mrs Felicia Olaoye Lawrence, and to other

ABSTRACT

This research work focuses on the Causes and Effect of Examination Misconduct in
Secondary Schools in Aliero Local Government, Kebbi State. 5450 students constitute
the population of this study, four research question was used, four Hypotheses were
used in this resaerch. The study would bring into the limelight the causes and effects as
it affect educational setting and social problem to the society as a whole. The
researcher used questionnaire to obtained information, questionnaire was designed to
have two options, Yes or No and True or False to enable the researcher convey
reasonable information about the study. Base on findings of this research work, the
researcher conclude that, psychological, environmental and intellectual factors are the
major challenges responsible to examination misconduct. Therefore, the researcher
recommends that, government should provide adequate facilities such as classrooms or
examination halls and laboratories to make the environment conducive not only for
teaching and learning but also to ensure effective check and control of candidates
during examinations. And school should punish any candidates found guilty of the
crime of examination misconduct to serve as deterrent to others.
