Writing Exemplar #1 Reflection Paragraph

My Macbeth essay was a very important work for me. Not only was I able to analyze
a historical play from the 1600s, but I was also able to make real world connections to the
events within the play. For example, my thesis for the essay was, In the play Macbeth by
William Shakespeare, those who were selfless prosper, while those who are selfish suer
punishments in the end. I then defended my point by showing that individuals like Macdu
who acted selflessly, came out on top in the end. I also showed karma eventually caught up
to characters that were selfish, like Macbeth. This essay marked the first time where had to
analyze historical text, and attempt to modern day connections to it as well. In life, karma
will always find its way back around in the end. Its far better to be someone who builds up
good karma rather than bad. Its very easy for anyone to read a modern play and analyze it.
However, to write a well-developed three page paper on a play of this historical diculty,
with all the confusing events that take place, is dicult. Its not hard to become confused
with the wordage used throughout the play. All in all, this piece of writing is a great work for
me due to my strong historical literature analysis, and my ability to connect it to modern
times.
