Dear Parents/Guardians

This has been an amazing semester in Creative Writing class. I have thoroughly enjoyed my
time with the CW students. Id like to inform you of our final project grade and welcome
your participation.

As a class, students will be writing a one-of-a-kind cookbook based on a family food tradition
that is special to each of them. Each child will write a short story and also include a recipe
for their chosen treat. These stories will be published in an online collection called Story Bird.
On Story Bird, students can read each others work and write positive feedback. Their Story
Bird class account will remain active even after the semester ends.

As a culminating activity, we will have a publishing party to celebrate the successful launch
of our book. Students are invited to bring their special food in to share with the class. The
celebration will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 during their Creative Writing
class periods 3, 5.

Students can bring in their food for safe keeping before school from 8:45am-9:10am on
Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

Please complete the form below and return by Tuesday, December 13, 2016. As always,
participation is voluntary and all students will join in the fun whether or not they are able to
bring their dish.
