HEALTH CHECK UP CAMPS

By CACR For MCGM School Children


Need for Health Check Up
Camps in BMC schools
The National Health Mission undertook the School Health Programmes
(SHP) to
combat health problems,
identify developing diseases, disorders and disabilities
by taking adequate and timely action.

What CACR does?


It works in close contact with the MCGM Education Department and SHP
officials and
offers maximum support in ensuring effective implementation of health
check up camps in municipal schools.
AIM OF THE PROGRAM
TARGET AUDIENCE: Children enrolled in municipal schools who are entitled to
free check up and treatment for minor and major illnesses in school clinics and
municipal dispensaries.

CACR aims at activating and supporting the SHP in municipal schools by

Organizing dental/eye check up camps in co-ordination with Medical officers


and school teachers.

Getting into a partnership and obtaining guidelines on


Oral health care from Indian Dental Association (IDA)
Eye care from Lotus College of Optometry.

Sending detailed reports of the children examined from IDA and Lotus College
of Optometry to the SHP for providing free treatment to affected children.

Tuberculosis (T.B.) and Tobacco awareness seminars were conducted for 4th-
10th std. students.
Future action: The reports from the Health Check Up Camps were shared with
the MCGM Education Department and School Health Program Officials for further
action and treatment.

CREATING AWARENESS
Following up on the Dental Camp at
Chakala Municipal School, CACR was
invited by the Medical Officer Schools
and the HM to speak to the parents.

Wadhwani and Dr. Richa Singh along
with Dr. Thakur (Medical Health Officer)
addressed a virtual full house of about
100+ parents attending the meeting
about
i. The SHP and
ii. Impending treatment of Chakala
Municipal School at Cooper hospital .
CREATING AWARENESS (continued.)
In the awareness session, it
was decided that Health
Check up Cards will be
provided.

CACR was successful in


helping complete 300+
health-checkup cards of the
children.
IMPACT AND BENEFIT
Students with dental and visual problems were taken to Cooper Hospital,
Nair Hospital and Rajwadi Hospital for treatment.

Free spectacles were provided for the kids with eyesight problems.

The camps benefitted 2565 students in addition to some staff members of the schools.

TARGET FOR 2017-18

CACR targets to support SHP by organizing


dental/eye check up camps for 10,000 municipal
school children during the academic year 2017-18.
