Aim
The aim of todays two sessions is to start creating my graphics. I will start with my logo
and if all goes well it will be finished by the end of these two sessions as that it what I am
working to in my proposal.
Evidence
To start with, I opened Photoshop and created a
blank canvas to create my logo on. The dimensions
of my new canvas were 12cm x 12cm as that is how big my CD
cover will be therefore that canvas needs to be no
bigger because the logo will fit onto the CD cover.
As I had
finished
my logo
before the
end of the
second
lesson I then went on to start creating my CD cover.
Learnt
From todays 2 sessions I have finish my logo and completely exported it as a PNG. I was
originally going to put a pixelated effect on the graphic but when I tried to apply it, it would
not work so I had to keep it normal. In the next two sessions, I will start and complete my
front CD cover and spine.
Aim
My aim for this session is to finish my CD front cover and start the back cover.
Evidence
To start I reopened the document I made last
session so I could start creating my background.
Next I went onto creating the text for my front cover. To do this I found an image online of
spray painted letter sentcils, I saved this image and opened it in Photoshop. To create my
band name I opened a new document with the same dinemsions to make it easier to create
my text on. What I did was used the rectangle
marquee tool to select the letter that I wanted to paste
onto my new document. Once I had all of the letters I
needed I arranged them so that the spelled out the
pixels, I merged the layers together so that I could
then transfer the graphic onto my album cover.
Learnt
Today I did not manage to finish my front cover completely
but nearly finished it. From this, I learnt I need to speed up with my work in the upcoming
sessions.
Aim
Today I will aim to finish my front cover and back cover of my CD, also I will try to
start my poster if I have time left over.
Evidence
To start I set the background of my CD spine to a simple white colour using the
rectangle tool. Next I went onto adding in the band name and album name. To do this
I duplicated both layers and repositioned them into the place I wanted them on the
spine. Finally I added in a smaller record label logo and the CD code at the bottom. I
got the logo off google images and created the code using the text tool.
Going back to my back cover I placed my white wall background on it by dragging it onto
the back cover tab from the front cover tab. Next I went onto adding in my traklist using the
text tool, I chose a simple font for my text as I wanted it to be easy to read but still look
stylish. The font I used was Source Code Pro Bold. I went onto google images to download
an image of a barcode top place onto my back cover.
Finally I
I then started my A3 poster by opening a new document with the dimensions of 297mm x
420mm. Firstly I added in my brick wall background by using the same picture I already
used for my CD cover. I added in the band name that I created for my CD cover by dragging
it from the CD cover tab to the poster tab. I added in my logo next to the band name. I did
not put my logo on my storyboard as I didnt think I needed it but whilst creating the poster
I felt that I needed to put it on as it was another way to advertise the band. Next I added in
the words UK Tour, I used the paint brush tool to do this and resized it to overlap the
band name slightly. One of my last steps was to put the tour dates and venues onto the
poster, to do this I used the text tool in the
font Source Code Pro Bold. The final
things I added to my poster were the social
media links for the band. I got a picture of
the Facebook and Twitter logo from
Google images and used the text tool tool
write the links onto the poster. I finally
exported the poster as a JPEG so that it was in the highest quality possible.
