To Whom It May Concern:

470,00 people have died in Syria since the beginning of the modern-day Syrian Civil War. People may
believe that the insane amount of people dead is an effect of their own political conflict within their
nation and their land. But has anyone taken time to realize the number of potential lives the US could
have saved by admitting refugees into the country? Are we no better than the mass murderers and
terrorists within Syria? Are we not murderers as well? My name is Breanna Bojescu and I am a student
of Antelope High School. I believe, that the US may actually be responsible for the deaths of hundreds
of innocent Syrians, as an effect of denying refuge to hundreds of innocent sufferers from Syria.

About a year ago, there was a war that erupted in Syria. A war between the government, and those
seeking to overthrow the government, believing that they could better the future for Syria. According
to an article found on The Guardian, reports say that the war has been going on for nearly five years
of conflict. Hundreds of thousands of Syrians are fleeing the country in search of refuge. Refuge,
that the US is barely providing.

Many are comparing the Syrian refugee crisis to the WWII refugee crisis. This I agree with. The US
has had political heat in regards to refugees for a while now, dating back to even World War 2. During
the events of World War 2, the US political hierarchy labeled refugees then as threats. Threats ranging
from those fleeing from the Nazis, to those fleeing the battles of the Hungarian revolution, refugees
have never really had a warm soft spot in the hearts of US politicians. This has not changed today, as
US politicians mostly still have refugees labeled with a big BAD on them. The cause of dislike of
refugees have not differed now and from World War 2 either. Back then, politicians feared that
admitting foreign refugees into the country would also yield spies and terrorists amidst the crowds of
refugees. Same is the worries of politicians now, the good old What if statement. What if we
admitted terrorists? What if we admitted spies? For Christs sake open your eyes America. You are one
of the strongest and mightiest nations out there. Would you rather risk having little problems enter the
country (and to say, problems you could also counter with all your might) and save hundreds of lives,
or stay fearing the not-so-mighty possibilities and also be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of
families and children?

And to make my point clear, I disagree with the US governments insanely murderous policies. Fine I
would have to admit the super tight policies in check are sufficient and needed in keeping out the
baddies, but a little more security measures in exchange for more lives to be saved isnt much more of
a terrible gamble now is it? Sure were admitting widows and orphans, but what about the rest we
leave out? What about the wives starving on the streets of Aleppo with their husbands? What about the
children begging their parents for warmth on the outskirts of war-torn cities? What right gives the US
ability to play God, deciding who can receive liberation and who cant?

Once again, I believe that the US government should sacrifice a little more time and effort into their
security policies regarding refugees in exchange for a couple hundreds of thousands of lives saved.
How you should vote is out of my volition, but all Im saying is that if the government gave a little
more effort into their security policies and a little less effort in trying to make the 2016 elections seem
less stupid, maybe the country will make much less of a murderer of refugees and much more a
harbourer of the needy. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
