For hundreds of years women have been continuously been oppressed by men. Women
have suffered over and over again for the dumbest reasons. Women did not have rights and were
considered property until only recently. Women worked hard and suffered enough to earn the
respect of men. Women have been thought of as incapable and had to work hard to prove
what it stands for. The declaration of sentiments was written by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a
womens rights activists. We choose this particular object because it stands for a lot. The
declaration states that women are oppressed and offers resolutions to the problems. The
declaration was the first step to the movement of feminism and gave women the inspiration to
fight for rights. Reformers wrote this declaration and thats why we chose it.
The declaration represents lots complaints about how women are being oppressed and
how there needs to be a change. The declaration states every issue women had with society at the
time. The document was a grand movement for attaining the civil, social, political, and religious
rights of women. The declaration was a form of protest for womens rights. It represents the
suffering of women throughout history and that times must change. It represented the beliefs and
ideas that the progressives believed in. the declaration represented the beliefs of progressives
The progressives believed in curing the social, political and economic ills affecting
Americans society. The declaration of sentiments was important to the progressives because it
fought for the biggest social injustice in America. The declaration was a document that fought for
womens rights with the same ethics as the progressives. This declaration represented change for
the better and was written by a progressive Elizabeth cady Stanton who not only fought for
womens rights but also helped to abolish slavery. The document that was written by the female
progressive was written to inspire and state the resolutions to social injustices to women.
In conclusion the declaration of sentiments was the perfect symbolic document that
represented the suffrage and hard work that women had gone through. The declaration of
sentiments represents the dedication and ambition that some women had in the beginning to
move forwards as a sex. The declaration represents the women that were tired of being second
class citizens and thought as incapable. The declaration represents one of the first actions
women took in order to gain rights. Women in the United States were tired of the oppression
from men and decided to take action by writing the declaration of sentiments.
