Government of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on26th June 1998. The Institute is a member of the

NIPERAhmedabad is functioning independently at its own campus at Gandhinagar with a state of art research
laboratory facility including animal house and a canteen. Presently, there are seven streams viz. Biotechnology,
Natural Products, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology and
Medical Devices with a mandate to be the National Centre for Medical Devices in coming years. The course

NIPERGuwahati is the fifth institute to be included in the list of the premier institutes under the Department of
Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. NIPERGuwahati started functioning
fromthemonthofSeptember,2008underthementorshipofGauhatiMedicalCollegeandHospital.NIPERGuwahati
hascurrentlythreedepartmentsviz,PharmacologyandToxicology,BiotechnologyandPharmacyPractice.
The establishment of NIPERGuwahati has given a strong boost to the promotion of Pharmaceutical Education &
ResearchintheNorthEastregionofIndiaforthefirsttime.Thestudentsofthisinstitutearegettingeducatedand
trainedinthefieldofPharmaceuticalSciencethatenhancesthequalitymanpowerinthecountry.Researcheffortsof
NIPER Guwahati have revived the studies on medicinal value of local herbs of North East Region against various

NIPERGuwahatihassignedMoUwithNATCOPharma,tostrengthenAcademiaIndustrycollaborationattheVisitors
conference,NewDelhion16thNovember2016intheaugustpresenceofVisitorNIPERHonblePresidentofIndiaSri
PranabKumarMukherji.Inaddition,NIPERGuwahatialsohadaMoUwithKAPL,Bangalore,whichwassignedatthe
Visitorsconference,2015.
This institute has R&D Collaborations with NIPER Hyderabad, CSIRIITRLucknow& NIPER Mohali. Apart from the
above,NIPERGuwahatihascollaborationwithICTMumbai,GauhatiBiotechPark,GauhatiUniversity,IITGuwahati,
IASSTGuwahatiandCollegeofVeterinaryScienceGuwahatitopromoteDrugResearchandDevelopment.Further,
this institute is in the final stage of discussions for academic collaborations with AIIMSNew Delhi, Banaras Hindu
University and NIPER Kolkata. NIPER G is running its lab practicals in Guwahati Biotech Park where state of art
instrumentfacilityisavailableinmorethan2,000sqft.
MoU has been exchanged with CSIR IICT Hyderabad for getting training for 2nd year NIPER students in various
departments like Biology, Chemical Biology, Pharmacology etc., and also in identified R&D collaborative programs.

NIPER Hajipur has been running since November 2007 under the mentorship of Rajendra Memorial Research
InstituteofMedicalSciences(ICMR),PatnawithanaimtobecomeacentreofexcellenceinPharmaceuticaleducation
andresearch.ItislocatedatE.P.I.P.Campus,IndustrialArea,Hajipur844102,Distt.Vaishali(Bihar)onthelandof
Lord Buddha. The Institute has three departments namely, Biotechnology, Pharmacy Practice and
Pharmacoinformatics, offers M. Pharm in Pharmacy Practice, M.S. (Pharm( in Biotechnology and
PharmacoinformaticsdegreesatMasterslevel,andPhDinallthethreedisciplines.
STUDENTS: The students joining Hajipur represent almost every state of India and come from diverse sections of
Society. By June, 2016, 263 students have been awarded their Master degrees. Most of them have been placed in
pharma industries, shile some are pursuing higher studies in various universities/institutions across the globe.

Tuberculosisetc.andmanuscriptsarepublishedthroughpeerreviewedjournals.
Ph.D. Courses have introduced in the Institute in the year 2011 with total students of five in Biotechnology and
Pharmacoinformatics, and in 2014, Ph.D in Pharmacy Practice. The Institute is to awardPh.D degree to allits first

NIPER Hyderabad is an Institute of National Importance established with the proclaimed objectives of becoming a

ThestudentshailingfromthisInstitutearebeingwellsoughtafterbyseveralleadingPharmaceuticalcompaniesand

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Kolkata (NIPERKolkata) was created in 2007 under
the aegis of Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizer as a centre of excellence for higher education, research and
developmentinpharmaceuticalsciences.
TheinstitutewasdeclaredasanInstituteofNationalimportancebyGovernmentofIndiathroughActofParliament
(NIPERAct1998&NIPERamendmentAct2007).AtpresenttheInstituteishousedatIndianInstituteofChemical
Biology(CSIRIICB),apremierInstituteoftheCouncilofScientific&IndustrialResearch,India.NIPERKolkataisalso
refurbishing additional space at Bengal Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, Maniktala established in 1901, a Public

TheNationalInstituteofPharmaceuticalEducationandResearch,Raebareli(NIPERR)isanautonomousbodywhich
has been established under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers,
Government of India, to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and other related areas. NIPER, Raebareli
started functioning from November 14, 2008 under the mentorship of the CSIRCentral Drug Research Institute,
Lucknow. The Institute is functioning from a beautiful campus located in Indian Telephone Industries Ltd. (ITI,
Raebareli) compound. NIPERR offers M.S. (Pharm.) coursesin three disciplines i.e. Medicinal Chemistry,

1.4 Eligibility
Thecandidateshouldhavepassedthequalifyingdegreewithaminimumof60%marksinaggregateorCGPA
of 6.75 on a 10 point scale wherever grades are awarded or equivalent (Percentage of marks or CGPA so
calculated will be based on the norms fixed by the concernedUniversity/Institution or aggregate marks or
CGPA scored by the candidate for all years of the qualifying degree, in case University/Institution has not
prescribed any norm forcalculating such percentage or CGPA). It is mandatory to bringGPAT/GATE/NET

3. RELAXATION
3.1 RelaxationinCGPAto6.25ona10pointscaleorinmarks to55%orequivalentintheeligibilitycriteriais

ManufacturingLicenseand3yearsexperienceofrunningPharmaUnitcansponsorhimselfforthis,Income
TaxReturnsfor3yearsshouldbeprovidedforconsideringeligibility.IndustrySponsoredcandidatesshould
haveanannualturnoverofRs.100Crores(forPrivateLimitedCompany);10Crores(forPartnership/Limited
LiabilityPartnershipCompany);2Crores(forselfemployed),respectively.Besidesabove,candidateshouldbe
onewhoseProvidentFundisdeductedbytheemployer
6.2 Thesponsoringprivatesectorundertakingswillbeaccreditedbythecommitteeconstitutedforthepurpose.
Qualifying criteria shall be as per Academic Programmes and Eligibility criteria. Candidate should have
relevantworkingexperienceofnotlessthantwoyearsunderpresentemployerandhe/shewillberequiredto
payfeeasIndustry/GovernmentsponsoredcandidateforwhichaseparatefeestructureisgivenunderSec.12
FeesandPayments.
6.3 CandidatemustsubmitaSponsorshipcertificatefromsponsoringorganizationintheformofanundertaking
thatthesponsoredemployeeshallbetreatedondutyandpaidhisorherusualsalaryandallowancesforthe
period of studies/research at this Institute. Such employees shall be fully relieved by the employer for

6.4 Candidatesseekingadmissiononthebasisofstudyleavemustshowprooftotheeffectthathe/shewillbe/has
beengrantedleavefortheperiodofstudyintheInstitute.
6.5 Where an employer wishes to withdraw the sponsorship, such employer shall be required to give genuine
reasonsforthewithdrawal.Thestudentthenwillbegivenanopportunitytoputforthhisorhersideofthe
issue.WheretheDeanandDirectoraresatisfiedthatthestudenthasviolatedanytermsandconditionsofthe
agreementwiththeemployer,suchpersonshallceasetobestudentoftheInstitute.Wherestudenthasnot
violatedanytermsandconditionsoftheagreementwithhisemployer,heorsheshallbeallowedtocomplete
hisorherstudies.Nofeesshallberefundedinanysituation.
6.6 No placement assistance is provided to the candidates sponsored by public/private sector undertakings,

6.7 Selected Candidates shall be admitted to the programme based on merit, after he/she deposits fee for first

7.1 SeatsarealsoavailableforSelfFinancingForeignNationalsandForeignNationalsundervariousscholarship

7.2 Foreign nationals under various scholarship schemes of the Ministry of Human Resource
Development/Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India may be considered for admission on the

9.4. There willbe negative marking in theon line test.25% markswillbe deducted for each wrong answer.The

totheDirector.Nootheramountincludingfeesdepositedshallberefunded.
14. FINANCIALASSISTANCE
14.1 All the admitted students [except for those admitted in M.B.A. (Pharm.) programme and candidates
Sponsored by Govt. Departments, Research and Development Organization, Public Sector
undertaking/ReputedPrivatePharmaceuticalEnterprises]willbeprovidedwithastipendofRs.12,400
permonthsubjecttoobtainingofminimumCGPAof6.00ineachsemester.IncasetheCGPAislessthan
6.00butmorethan5.50thestipendofthestudentshallbewithheldtillhe/sheobtainstheminimum
CGPAof6.00.
14.2 InstitutewillprovidefinancialassistanceofRs.12,400permonthtothreestudentsofM.B.A.(Pharm.)
programme. The financial assistance will be given to the student(s) during second, third and fourth
semester.Thefinancialassistancewillbebasedontheperformanceandmeritofthestudent(s)intheir
previoussemester.
15. REGISTRATION/ORIENTATION
15.1 Beforethecommencementofsemestereverystudentshallrenewregistrationinpersoninaccordance
withtheprocedureandschedulelaiddownbytheInstitute.Thestudentshalldepositthefeeandother
chargesatthetimeofrenewingtheregistration.
15.2 Late or inabsentia renewal of registration shall not be permitted. However, in special circumstances
such as departmental assignment/training etc. the Dean, having been satisfied of the circumstances,
shall permit late or inabsentia renewal of registration. No renewal of registration shall be permitted
after10daysofcommencementoftheclasses/semester.Studentwhofailstorenewregistrationbythe
notifieddateshallceasetobethestudentofInstitute.
15.3 Theregistrationshallbecancelledunderanyofthefollowingconditions:
15.3.1 Wherethestudentabsentsforacontinuousperiodoffourweekswithoutpriorintimation/sanctionof
leave;
15.3.2 Wherethestudentfailstorenewregistration;
15.3.3 Wherethestudentfailstocleartheexamination
15.3.4 Wherethestudenthascommittedanactofmisconduct/indiscipline;
15.3.5 Whereacademicperformanceofthestudentisunsatisfactory;and
15.3.6 Wherethestudentresignsfromtheprogrammeandhisorherresignationhasbeenaccepted.
16. CREDITSYSTEM
16.1 EducationintheInstituteisorganisedaroundthecreditsystem.

16.2 Each course has a certain number of credits which will describe its weightage. The
performance/progress of the student will be measured by the number of credits that he/she has
completedsatisfactorily.Aminimumgradepointaveragewillberequiredtoqualifyforthedegree.
16.3 Everycoursewillbecoordinatedbyafacultymemberofthedepartmentofferingthecourseinagiven
semester.Thisfacultymemberwillbecalledthecoursecoordinator.Thecoordinatorwillhavethefull
responsibility to conduct the course, coordinating the work of the other members of the faculty
involvedinteachingthatcourse,holdingtestsandassignmentsandawardingthegrades.Incaseofany
difficulty the student is expected to approach the course coordinator for advice and clarification.
However, the overall academic activities of a department will be supervised by the head of the
respectivedepartment.
17. QUALIFYINGCRITERIAFORAWARDOFDEGREE
17.1 Studentsarerequiredtoattendeverylectureandpracticalclassduringthesemester:providedthatin
the case of the late registration, sickness and other contingencies, the attendance required will be a
minimumof75%oftheclassesactuallyheld.Ifthestudentfallsshortof75%ofmandatoryattendance
inacourse,he/shewillnotbepermittedtoappearintheendsemesterexaminationofthatcoursein
thatsemesterandthestudentwillhavetocompleteallrequirementsofthatcourseinthesubsequent
year.
17.2 The minimum credit requirement for masters degree will be 50 credits including a minimum of 28
creditsofcourseworkandbalancecreditsofprojectwork.ThecreditrequirementforM.B.A.(Pharm.)
degree will be a minimum of 100 valid credits including a minimum of 88 credits course work and
balancecreditsofprojectwork.
17.3 TheminimumCGPArequiredfortheawardofthedegreewillbe6.00.IftheCGPAismorethan5.50but
below6.00inanysemester,thecandidatemaybepermittedtocontinueintheprogrammewithcertain
conditions.
17.4 If CGPA is below 5.50 in any semester, the student shall be permitted to improve his/her CGPA by
repeatinginamaximumof2theorycoursesirrespectiveofthegradeearned.
17.5 If a student after availing the maximum number of repeat examinations as per rules, fails to clear the
course(s)orfailstosecureminimumCGPAshallhavetodiscontinuetheprogramme.
17.6 ThemaximumperiodforcompletionoftheMastersProgramewillbe3yearsfromthedateofjoining
theprogramme.
18. MEASURES AGAINST THE MENACE OF RAGGING /RULES GOVERNING CONDUCT AND
MAINTENANACEOFDISCIPLINE/ACTSOFINDISCIPLINE

Ragging in educational institutions is banned by Honble Supreme Court of India. The Court has issued
mandatoryorderstocurbthemenaceofragging(Annexure5).
Ifastudentisfoundtohaveindulgedinragging,he/sheshallbeawardedseverepunishment,likeexpulsion
fromhostelormess.Inseriouscases,studentcanbeexpelledfromtheInstituteorFIRcanbelodgedagainst
him/her with the nearest police station. The punishment shall also be in the form of fine, public apology or
withholdingofresult.

Raggingmeanscausing,inducing,compellingorforcingastudent,whetherbywayofapracticaljokeor
otherwise, to do any act which detracts from human dignity or violates his/her person or exposes
him/hertoridicule,orcompelshim/hertoforbearfromdoinganylawfulact,byintimidating,wrongfully
restraining,wrongfullyconfiningorinjuringhim/herbyusing criminalforcetohim/her,orbyholding
outtohim/heranythreatofsuchintimidation,wrongfulrestraint,wrongfulconfinement,injuryorthe
use of criminal force. Ragging being an evil practice, is inhuman, illegal and punishable. It violates the
disciplineofaneducationalinstitutionandadverselyaffectsthestandardsofhighereducation.Ragging
in any educational institute is banned by the Honble Supreme Court of India. The court has issued

1.0 DEFINITION:
Forthepurposeoftheserules,unlessthereisanythingrepugnantinthesubjectorcontext
1.1 Authority means the Director, the Dean, Heads of Department, Teachers and Officers and all
othersimilarauthoritiesoftheInstitute.
1.2 DirectormeanstheDirectoroftheInstitute.
1.3 DeanmeanstheDeanoftheInstitute.
1.4 OfficerincludesRegistrar,Dy.Registrar,Asstt.Registrar,SecurityOfficer,Wardenandincludes
suchothersasmaybenotifiedtobeOfficersfromtimetotime.
1.5 RegistrarmeansRegistraroftheInstitute.
1.6 InstitutemeanstheNationalInstituteofPharmaceuticalEducation&Research.
1.7 Student means a student undergoing a course of study and/or research at the Institute and

3.3 The recommendation for recognition of exemplary good conduct shall be considered by the
Director if he is satisfied that the conduct deserves a recognition, may award a certificate of
exemplaryconductwithorwithoutmonetaryreward.
3.4 Any certificate granted aforesaid may be withdrawn for sufficient cause but only after giving

2.PhotographandSignatureRequirements
The Online Application Processing System requires that your photograph and signature be uploaded
electronicallyatthetimeofsubmittingyourapplication.Uploadingphotographorsignaturethatdoesnot
meet the specifications can result in the disqualification of the application without any refund of the
application/registrationfee,withoutanyintimation.
PhotographRequirementsPleasepayattentiontouploadgoodqualityphotograph.Poorqualityofthe
photographsubmittedwillleadtorejectionofyourapplication,withoutanyrefundoftheapplicationfee.
TheAdmitcardwillbeprintedwiththephotographyousubmit.
1. Thephotographmustbeincolorandmustbetakeninaprofessionalstudio.Photographtakenusing
amobilephoneandotherselfcomposedportraitsareNOTacceptable.
2. Thephotographmustbetakeninawhiteoraverylightbackground.
3. Thephotographmusthavebeentakenafter1stJan2017.
4. Inthephotograph,thefaceshouldoccupyabout50%ofthearea,andwithafullfaceviewlooking
intothecameradirectly.
5. The main features of the face must not be covered by hair of the head, any cloth or any shadow.
Forehead,eyes,noseandchinshouldbeclearlyvisible.
6. Ifyounormallywearspectacles,glareonglassesisnotacceptableinyourphoto.Glarecanbeavoided
withaslightdownwardtiltoftheglassesorbyremovingtheglassesforthephotoshoot.
7. Youmustnotwearspectacleswithdarkortintedglasses,onlyclearglassesarepermitted.
8. Ask your photo studio to provide the image in a JPEG format and size of this photo should not be

morethan50KB.
9. Foryourownbenefititmaybeprudentnottointentionallychangeyourfacialfeaturesorhairstyle
asinthephotographuntilthedayofexamination.
SignatureSpecifications:
1. Pleasedrawarectangularboxofsize2cm7cm(HeightxWidth)onanA4whitepaper.
2. Putyoursignaturewithblackordarkblueinkpenonwhitebackground
3. Get the signature digitally image scanned by a professional using a scanner, and get the image
croppedtotheboxbytheprofessional.
4. OnlyJPEGimageformatswillbeaccepted.
5. Sizeofthissignaturefileshouldnotbemorethan50KB.
6. Photographs of the signatures taken using mobile phone are not acceptable, and can result in
disqualificationoftheapplicationwithoutanyrefundofthefee.

TheAdmitCardcanonlybedownloadedfromtheportaltentativelyafterloggingintoportalusingsame
ApplicationIDandpasswordasperdatesspecifiedatNIPERwebsite.
Admit Cards will NOT be sent by post. Bring a printout of the downloaded Admit Card to the
examination Center along with the original and valid photo identification (NO photocopy / scanned
copy/expiredIDispermitted).ItmaybenotedthatcandidatemaycarryoneofthefollowingIDs:Driving
License,Passport,PANCard,VoterID,AadhaarUID,CollegeID,EmployeeIdentificationCard,orRation
Card.
